My Facebook Friends Are Drones. An inner monologue.

We are indeed a lovely lot of mindless drones. The state of our nation is in free-fall. This is the product of our own numb skulls.  Thank you Facebook!

It would be one thing to say that we had no choice in the matter. Perhaps an evil government entity snuck some hypnotic substance into our junk food causing us to loose the power of reason and abandon maturity. Perhaps we are being manipulated by the evil government entity.

But such is not the case. We have done this to ourselves. We, through our self-destructive level of complacency and intellectual sloth have given over everything that is ours, including our capacity to reason to a cacophony of entertainment media and our lessers on Capitol Hill.

Of course, I paint with a wide brush. There are individuals who work hard every day to make you aware of the ocean of inanity we are happily drowning in. Some work in the very entertainment industry I mentioned. You can actually find them on CNN, FOX News, the U. S. Government and on multiple internet sites like this one.

Arrogant, you say? Who am I to set myself on such a lofty pedestal? Well, you might have a point if I were discussing complex issues like Quantum Mechanics, microbiology or how a Slinky can walk down the steps, all of which are far beyond my capacity for understanding.

But I’m not. It is much simpler than all that. I am speaking here of our ability to know when we are being played; manipulated. The game is ubiquitous and depressingly obvious. And nearly all of us either ignore it or voluntarily dive into the cesspool and swim around in it. Worse, many of us contribute extra layers of excrement to it in places like Facebook and Twitter.

Every day, we tune in to our favorite echo chamber and drink stupid through a fire hose. Whatever the issue – taxes, immigration, Hollywood’s adolescent celebration of the word “fuck”, there seems to be two basic reactions among the vast majority of people: ignoring the issue (I can’t blame you, but you do so, often at your peril) or jumping into the fray with mindless and/or intentionally offensive comments. And most of what I read in FB threads and from “professional” news personalities alike, do not inform, deal in truth or contribute to the betterment of anything.

Pick any talk program or any FB thread – that isn’t about kitties playing with toilet paper – and ferret out the comments that are based on reason. Then look at the rest. Do a running tally on both. It will take you perhaps two or three threads and ten comments each to spot the pattern I speak of. The only difference between FB drones and “professional” commentators is splashier presentation and a big budget. And I’ll provide an example in just a sec.

But almost all of it slavishly serves a phony “side” in a non-existent battle between forces that commentators couldn’t define if you paid them to do it. I will have to break down that comment in a separate article. But it is probably the root of the intellectual abyss we find ourselves in.

But here’s the upshot of things we are seeing, wall-to-wall, on immigration this week. The newsies messed up. Last week Trump had the best week he’s had in a while and the Mueller Investigation, for the same reason, had it’s worst. A few basic truths trickled out into the light of day.

There was a sudden spark of outrage among parts of the population, enough to trigger an all-out response by the entertainment/news industry to change the subject.

[No, I am not a Trump supporter. Read my work. The words “President Trump” still do not roll easily off my tongue, although I don’t question his occupation of the office. I simply throw the bullshit flag wherever bullshit bubbles up.]

We have had the immigration issue on slow boil for decades. It is a tool both parties use to keep you from focusing on real issues, like the fact that Fannie and Freddie are nearly broke again and will soon need another trillion-dollar bailout. This will make 2008 look like a 3-point market correction.

So look over here!

Don’t look at the most brazen abuse of the presidency in our history (all the things Obama did to squash opponents – that would be the Mueller thing no one is supposed to focus on)!

Don’t look at the silly home loan thingy.

Look at the plight of the people no one really cares a lick about anyway. Look at the crying children in the pictures, including the ones staged by the people protesting how we make children cry…by making children cry.

We are “imprisoning” innocent (?) people who broke a law and are now being called on it! How dare we?

Leave alone the fact that the processing these people face is a goddamn welcome wagon when compared to the shitholes they just left behind. Don’t consider the man-hours and effort and money spent to make them comfy while they await almost inevitable release onto our streets. Ignore the fact that MAYBE 3% will ever show up for the hearing they will surely dodge at the border.

YOU ARE ORDERED TO ACCCEPT THE FACT THE DONAL TRUMP IS A NAZI AND ALL THE PEOPLE WORKING ON THE BORDER ARE NAZIS.

Or if you are on the opposing side:

THIS IS PROOF THAT WE NEED A BORDER WALL!

Both those statements are, of course, bullshit.

It was and continues to be pathetically predicable. I use illegal immigration as an example because it happens to be the line of bullshit run on us right now, and as it develops the bullshit continues to pile up. It is simply the timeliest demonstration of how we are being played.

The laws and regulations protecting illegals crossing the southern border are voluminous, so much so that they are almost impossible to enforce. That is intentional.

So (I’ll say it – President Trump) signs an executive order* directing that families be kept together.

And this is where the predictability continues. It was precisely what politicians, newsies and stupid people on FB had been chanting since the IG report showed how vile and corrupt the FBI and Justice Department had become. “Keep the families together” was the phrase heard in every pass on your Facebook page and several times a minute on every “news” program.

So Trump says okay, keep the families together.

This morning what do we see in “newspapers”, commentaries, and on social media? IT’S NOT ENOUGH! IT DOESN’T INCLUDE GRANDPARENTS, COUSINS, AUNTS AND UNCLES.

WTF? (I characterized my reaction thus for the FB drones) What that means is: who are these people kidding? No one, and I mean no one, ever intended to include extended family in this phony protest. You didn’t, Mika Brzezinski didn’t, even the Four Morons didn’t. But the whiners had to add that in today because their demands about taking kids from their moms were met. Some people just can’t take “yes” for an answer. People like Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi.

The fact is, this is all fuelled by a simple anti-Trump agenda. It isn’t real. The folks crying about illegal immigrants today, on both sides of the argument, will be on to the next shiny object when told to be by the “news” entertainers. Only a negligible few will fight for or against illegals as they always have. The rest will have made themselves feel good, having contributed to the stupidity of their fellow man.

Let’s get a taste of how things get so blown out of proportion.

This is Joe Scarborough on the child separation issue: “I know children are being ripped from their mother’s arms, even while they’re being breast-fed. I know children are being marched away to showers, marched away to showers. Being told they are — just like the Nazis — said that they were taking people to the showers and then they never came back.”

That has got to be the single most irresponsible, most appalling thing I have ever heard from a “news” entertainer. That idiot compared holding your child in the custody of caregivers while you await processing (a reward for committing a crime) to killing people in gas chambers with Zyclon-B! And the stupid people all over social media jumped right on it. They loved it!

As an aside, I was just wondering if Mistress Mika made him say it. Perhaps she had him on his knees in a leather G-string during show prep.

“You will say the Nazi shower line, you dirty, little comment boy!” [cracks whip across pasty, white butt]

“Yes Mistress!”

And Scarborough is not alone. There are endless references to Nazis throughout the “news” and from Capitol Hill. It’s a common theme when criticizing Trump. And it can never be defined. Even the people using the term “nazi”, in these endless I-hate-Trump contexts, wouldn’t know a nazi from a kumkuat.

There was a time, I would say 4 or 5 years ago, when Scarborough would have not survived an hour in his present position, for a comment so vile. Not today. Today, like I said, you drink your stupid through a fire hose, and most of you are dumb enough to accept it. That’s how far we have fallen.

And can you imagine if George Will had made such a comment about an Obama policy? Even the exact same policy? He’d have gotten a double whammy for the crappy nazi comment AND being racist for disagreeing with Dear Leader Obama. Either way, he’d have been escorted from the studio during the next commercial break.

So here’s a challenge: the next time you are told to look over at the new shiny object, take a look around at what they would rather not talk about. And I mean the “they” on both sides of the aisle. You will find, almost without exception, the big headlines are not the most important political or social issue you should be focusing on.

More on this and related topics to come.

Maybe I’ll go back to talking about some of Trump’s bullshit. That will make some of my friends who think they are “liberal” happy.

Here endeth my random stream of consciousness on poor citizenship. Cheers.

*This is total bullshit in that he has no authority to do this. The laws he addressed can only be addressed legislatively.  “But – B. Hussein did it, so why can’t we?” comes the chant from people who think they are conservative.

Why Everyone Is Wrong About "Tax Reform"

So, What’s Wrong With “Tax Reform”?

I’ll start with this little hint:  What we are seeing debated right now in the abortion we call Congress is not tax reform.  It isn’t even a significant tax reduction.  Okay, so that was more than a hint.

Take a gander at my piece about Boris and Ivan.  When I posted it last week a Boris attitude was running rampant through social media and cable news.  Commentators and the wider ignorant crowd were whining about how unfair it is that the rich get the several times more than everyone else. They should pay more still!

When I read and hear people saying such things I often wonder if they are stupid and pathetic enough to actually believe it, or if they are hoping to join the chorus of the left, hoping that Daddy Government will kill Ivan’s goat for them.

At any rate, it seems to be working.  Since last post congress has been debating who should get taxed to pay for the tax cuts.  (Can you see the stupidity at work here?)   It appears they will not only keep the top rate at 39.6%, there is serious talk of running it up to 48%+ to pay for the measly tax breaks the middle class is getting.

There are so many things wrong with the ongoing debate it is hard to know where to start.  The undiluted bullshit is flowing out of DC like a wall of stinking lava.

The first, and most significant point is how blatantly disinterested the Republican are in a true, free-market fix to our tax code.  I would lump Trump in with them but I have to allow for his monumental ignorance about all things political and economic.  I have been so hard on him over the years it wouldn’t be fair to pretend he understands what is actually being debated here.  Clearly, the Four Morons simply stroked his ego, let him think he was the driver of the debate and told him this was going to be a historic tax cut.  It’s not going to be any such thing.

If the GOP actually wanted to REFORM the tax code, they would have started from a position of real reform.  This would have been to announce that taxes and spending were going to be slashed to the bone.  Naturally, the Dems would have had fits.  But they would have been forced to defend the ridiculous code we have now.  Any conservative, even pretend conservatives like Paul Ryan could have easily won that debate.

The result, even with compromises, would have been far more productive and far better for the economy than what we have now.  That’s because the GOP started, as they did with Obamacare repeal and Immigration, from a position that was already 90% a Dem/Socialist position.  And as with Obamacare and Immigration the Dems couldn’t have been happier with the laws being proposed by Ryan and McConnell.

When you see the Democrat half of the Four Morons saying how horrible the GOP plans are, you are just hearing hot air.  They know three things: There are a few honest conservatives on the Right who know this is all theater and will have a hard time supporting it.  They also know there are at least two political whores, McCain and Collins, who will not support anything that isn’t 99.9% liberal so they can claim to be “mavericks” working across the aisle.  Finally they know the Ryan and McConnell are weak leaders who care more about simply being in their cushy positions as party leaders than actually accomplishing something.

Result:  the Dems know they will either keep everything as they want it or if they “lose” the debate, they keep 90% of what they want.  In other words, the Dems can’t lose and the GOP had already surrendered their principals before the first committee took up “tax reform”.

Oh Yeah, about the “reform” thing.

I really hope if you are reading this you are not one of those pathetic rubes excited about the post card tax form.  THAT is the first “reform” Paul Ryan has been touting.  There is nothing new about that card.  It is a 1040A printed in a smaller piece of thicker paper.  You’ll enter the same numbers in basically the same way.  The only difference is there will be more people claiming “gifts” from the government in the form of “earned” income credit (EIC) and the “alternative minimum” tax (AMT) repeal.

While these “gimmees” send more of our money to mostly people who don’t pay income taxes to begin with, they represent more of the federal government taking money from you and me and pretending to help us by giving it back or giving it to someone else.  Why take it to begin with?

So the card is a hoax.

The state tax write-off.

Most people actually think this is a good thing.  While I am sure they love the idea of getting the money in their Federal refund, did you ever consider what little sense it makes?

Let’s say you live in Mississippi.  Your government taxes you and everybody else. At the end of the year you get a deduction for what you paid Mississippi.  In other words Daddy Government is subsidizing your citizenship in a state.  Pretty good, right?

But in MS, you don’t pay very much in the way of state taxes.  New Yorkers, on the other hand, pay a huge tax bill to the state.  Their deduction is a lot bigger.  So when businesses and people decide to live in New York, it is understood that to live in such a “great” state, you have to pay for the privilege.  But wait, they are subsidized too.  Hmmm.

What would happen, I wonder, if the federal government dropped everyone’s tax rates a bit and stopped subsidizing people living in congested, high tax, big, bureaucratic areas?  Would a small to medium sized business person stay there with the traffic and the crime and the red tape, if someone else was not paying him public money to do so?  Just chew on that one.

But everyone is worried about the deduction (which the government never had any business creating) going away.  The idea of the government subsidizing what state you live in deserves more attention.  And I will revisit this subject in greater detail soon.

And what of your mortgage interest deduction?  Did you buy a home because you got a deduction?  Don’t lie.  You’re not a billionaire.  You bought a house because you were ready to buy a house.  Period.  The “deduction” you get is smoke and mirrors.  How about we knock a few more point of your tax bracket and stop wasting time and money factoring and paying inflated refunds.

How about the child-care credit?  That’s going up!  How about we knock more still off what you pay to begin with and not pretend to “give” you that money every year?  Do you know what happens to prices when there is less money chasing them?  That’s right!  Very good!  They go down.  It is the illusion of getting that money from Daddy Government that contributes to the high cost of child care.

And if you don’t qualify to pay income taxes, everyone else is paying for your child care and your “earned” income credit.  You should thank people for that every day.  If that line makes you smirk it is because you are an ingrate with an over-bloated sense of entitlement.  Don’t worry, you are not alone.  This tax debate and the comments I see on social media indicate there a bunch of you out there.

Don’t get me wrong.

Any reduction in taxes will have a positive effect on the economy right now.  But the pathetic little we will come away with after this bit of worthless theater in Congress will not be anywhere near the boost we’d get from a real across-the-board cut.  Everyone paying the same percentage of their income, closing all loop holes would be better.

But the tax cuts need to be paid for!!!!

No they don’t.  Not in the near term.  But once the economy settles into the new norm, there will be no new boost from the tax rates.  So, since we know that any new revenue from the volume of taxes being paid will be wasted by the spending pigs in the House and Senate, what is a voter to do?  What is the 1 smart statesmen in 50 to do?

Well, if you want to offset tax cuts directly, you don’t raise other kinds of taxes.  That kills the point of the exercise.  You must cut spending.  First there has to be a push for no new spending.  No one is dying in this country because the government doesn’t piss enough money away.

Uncle Stinky can, as I point out in Street Politics, dump a lot of useless spending over night. Start with the entire Department of Education.  It has never educated a single child in this country since its inception.  In fact, like the “war on poverty”, every dollar spent by the Dept of Ed has resulted in one less educated graduating class after another.  It is a drag on REAL education.  Dump it.

Put the EPA under the Department of the Interior.  Strip it of its entire mission other than referee of disputes between states over shared waterways.  Every state now has an EPA of its own.  We don’t need a 51st EPA in DC.  Slash it by 90%.  Not a single molecule of carbon will be emitted because of that cut.  Until now the only thing that stood between fossil fuels and success was bribe money on K Street.  Now the states will be the final arbiter of who burns what fuel and who builds wind farms.

And don’t get me started on job training programs.  They are most wasted tax dollars ever spent.  Not one of the 47 job training programs run by the federal government has reported a single success.  Most don’t even pretend to have a matrix to justify the money they waste.

That’s just three examples of billions we can save to put the “pay for tax cuts” canard to rest.  There are more in the book and many more to be had throughout the federal pig trough.

Conclusions

This should be your take-away.  There is only one true, honest, permanent tax reform to be pursued.  That would be a flat tax.  To be most effective it should be a point-of-sale retail tax, but or now we just leave it as an income tax.  No pretend loop holes.

Arguing for more taxes to pay for tax cuts is the kind of sick shit Orwell tried in vain to warn us about.  Reduce the size of the pig trough.

My final conclusion is this:  I am likely pissing up a rope (old Navy talk for wasting my time).  My guess is the GOP will put out a plan even more Byzantine than our existing tax code which will do 1/10th of what a simple across-the-board cut will do.  There will be great fanfare.  The Donald will call it the greatest tax cut in history.  And you will let them all get away with it.

Smirky Head Shakers II

Those TV and movie moments that make normal people smirk and shake their heads.

I was at a doctor’s office waiting for my wife last week, watching a Biloxi news show. I had to cringe. This is why local news is seen as the kindergarten of the news media industry.

The anchorwoman was discussing child obesity with a local “expert” on the subject. The “expert” said that child obesity strikes 74 million boys and 50 million girls in this country. The “news” anchor joined the “expert” in a short round of somber head-shaking. Why, it’s just shocking!

Made all the more shocking by the fact that we now have 124 million kids out of 73.8 million (total) suffering from obesity. (Look at those numbers again if you aren’t smirking yet).

We see this almost every day; and not just on local news. It only stands out on a local level because these programs look like high school media projects. But we see this kind of “reporting” everywhere. The reason why most people don’t question enough is because when the shoddy information is reported it is often reported on varsity outlets like cable news, featuring our favorite celebrity reporters.

Guests make the most outrageous claims and the “news” celebrity nods, giving the statements an air of legitimacy. We shake our heads and wonder My god! Is there ANTHING that can be done about this!

In most cases, with the slightest intellectual curiosity on our part, we would find that what we are being told is either grossly exaggerated, being spun to the point where the underlying information is worthless, or that the statements are outright lies.

Name a big news item we’ve seen on the last 10 years. Think about what is reported and opined upon with respect to the “news”. With ten minutes of critical thought, you can probably find that a) the “reporting” provides very little in the way of fact surrounding the item, and b) the opinions are ALMOST always an effort to advance a commentator’s personal crusade or to advance the career of the commentator/”reporter”.

Here’s the problem with that. Once we reach the point where discussion is bereft of fact or reason argument ceases. You cannot argue a point with reason on one side and self-serving bullshit on the other. And when reporting and discussing reaches the point where both sides are shoveling agenda and spin and ignoring reason, you hit the slimy bottom of the sewer.

As a culture, we’ve been there for a while.

Name the subject:  North Korea, Donald Trump, the Vegas shooter or fat kids; there is precious little being said anywhere having any intrinsic value. There is almost no subject upon which we can gain purchase and reach valid conclusions. Not from the sources we presently accept as legitimate.

We ARE the “idiocracy”.

We live in a world where in some powerful circles Donald Trump is still referred to as “brilliant” and a great “deal maker”. He was NEVER either. We live in a world where an entire house party caucus still allows itself to be disgraced by Nancy Pelosi. We live in a world where a cabinet officer, former first lady and presidential candidate is caught red-handed, up to her eyeballs committing felonies – and nothing happens. In this world, Mitch McConnell is still revered. Global warming alarmism is gospel, while not a single person can tell you what the ideal median temperature of the earth* is supposed to be.

And while half of the population latches onto one of these stupid conclusions the other is only motivated by how they can be used to discredit or destroy political opponents.

We may well have passed the tipping point where recovering a mature, educated, civil society is impossible.

How do we now teach our daughters that a pat on the ass, while most consider it inappropriate, is NOT sexual assault? How do we then teach her to handle such things as an adult?

How do we teach our children that history favors free and open discourse, while we allow a growing list of things we are not permitted to discuss?

How do we, as a nation, ever again recognize the laws of economics (as hard and fast as gravity) versus the failure of “managing” an economy among 312 million people?

We live in a country where adults watch TV shows about vampires and zombies, and now police officers with magic super powers. Think about that! Less than a generation ago such concepts would be laughed out of any adult gathering.

Me-too-ism is running rampant. For every dramatic news event, there are now battalions of Americans jumping in and trying to be part of someone else’s narrative. They are followers and claim the mantle of weakness or victimization as if those were good things.

Our schools, our government and now many of our corporations operate not from a position how do I improve my world today, but from a kill Ivan’s goats perspective.

Some believe we just need “god in schools” to fix everything. But our present-day, citizen-as-obedient-drone society has been metastasizing since Woodrow Wilson. Religion has been around since the discovery of fire. Prayer in schools and the Pledge of Alligiance didn’t stop the rise of FDR or LBJ. So that’s not the answer.

If someone can tell me how we can un-Animal Farm this nation based on reason and without magical thinking, I’d love to hear your argument. I will enthusiastically invite you to post it here.

Just follow and message me here.

The GOP Guarantees Single-Payer Health Care!

Bend Over Sweet Cheeks!  Here It Comes Again!

I warned you.  I told you at least three times that the GOP was setting us up for permanent Obamcare or Single-Payer Health Care.  But you didn’t listen.  Why?  Because I am an unknown.  Or because I don’t drool when President Trump makes a speech.  Or because I don’t care if I or you lose a government give-away.  They are all just excuses to whistle past the graveyard. But no matter.

And so the reaming continues. There have been so many opportunities to truly kill the Beast and we have squandered them all. There are so many people who will see what this article is about and groan, “Oh. Politics.” They’ll smirk and click over to videos kitties playing with toilet paper or some jackass licking a toilet. And they will be entertained.

And that, friends and neighbors, is why the GOP is getting away with the preservation of Obamacare. I am not the only one sounding the claxon, trying to rally resistance to Obamacare and Obamacare lite. You have been warned so many times.

A Look at the Single-Payer Healthcare Scam

Let’s review. As the present Administration came to power, item number one on the agenda was to eliminate the government control of the health insurance industry.   Few remember, because of the endless mantra obediently touted by governing class, the idea was to repeal Obamacare. NOT “repeal and replace”. As soon as you say replace, as a Republican, you are full of shit.

But as soon as people like Paul Ryan (R- WI) added the word “replace”, everyone with two brain cells to rub together knew we were about to get played for chumps. No one listened. You therefor deserve what is about to happen to you.

A few members of Congress, like Congressmen Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), stood their ground against this and would have been successful in their fight if YOU had been more engaged. If YOU had shared as many of these warnings as you did videos of teenagers lighting farts or riding tricycles off of garage roofs. LOL.

But you didn’t. You are going to watch as the GOP accelerates the disasters Obamacare was certain to cause, paving the way for a single-payer government healthcare system. You are going to watch as everyone but the extremely wealthy and the governing class ends up on low-quality, inefficient healthcare.

Let’s recall that Obamacare was never about improving healthcare in this country. It was about the government taking over the insurance industry as another means of control and extortion over citizens; YOU! It was an intentionally failed model that could not ever be funded enough to survive. The idea was for it to fail and for Dems to declare, “Well, we tried our best. But the system can’t be saved. Now we have to completely eliminate the greedy insurance industry and pay for everyone’s third world healthcare.”

Half the country would have been STUPIDLY grateful. The other would have been looking around, dazed, saying, “What the hell just happened?”

Well, that’s not the way it is working out. As I write this, you are being burned in so many ways it is difficult to list all the con games being played out. But I’ll try.

The Starting Line

Right out of the gate, alarm bells should have been going off the day Ryan and Trump gleefully rolled out the plan that Trump now calls “mean, mean, mean” (he read that on Twitter). From the outset, the starting proposal the GOP was hawking represented 75% of everything Obamacare is! There are no reforms! Let me repeat that. THERE ARE NO REFORMS!

The entire structure is left in place to be entirely reinstated with the next election, or if the GOP decides it needs more of money (baksheesh) from the insurance industry. And while they eliminate mandates, calling that progress, they are accelerating the crash of the whole system. It is Obamacare without the funding. So the inevitable crash is much closer now than before.

When that crash occurs, will politicians suddenly find a sense of honesty and responsibility and say, “Okay we tried government-run insurance and it didn’t work. It’s time to go back to letting the private sector do what it does best”?

Noooooo. The immediate cry from all Dems and the GOP “leaders” will be, “Well, we tried to let a few insurance companies and the government to dominate a sixth of the economy and it didn’t work. The only answer now is for the government to take over the whole healthcare system.”

The Medicaid Misdirection

First there is no reason to talk about Medicaid and health insurance in the same breath. Medicaid isn’t insurance. It is one of a long list of government goodies given to the needy and far more of the not-so-needy.

And while using Medicaid as a shill issue in this argument, the GOP is going to increase Medicaid spending at just a slightly lower rate than the Dems intended to. Right now, a family of four making $98,400 qualifies for free government healthcare under Medicaid. And the GOP will grow this number. So while we see the battle over Medicaid “cuts” unfold around the wider Obamacare argument, remember that there are no cuts. There are increases every year for as far as the eye can see.

The Medicaid argument is a shiny object sideshow.

Yet Another Bailout

Part of the GOP package is, incredibly, A BAILOUT! A GODDAMN BAILOUT! They are going to GIVE billions to the companies that colluded in the creation of this monstrosity and even though the fix was in for them (in most cases these companies are protected by the government from completion) they STILL lost money.

Do we tell them, “Sorry. We rigged the game entirely in your favor. But no matter how many illegal presidential fiats Obama came out with to help you further, you still lost money. You made a terrible deal. Your losses are your fault and the fault of the corrupt politicians in the previous congress and administration”?

No! The GOP is going to make them whole AND THEN continue to support them in this failed program. There is no provision in this bill to allow all insurance companies sell quality health insurance without artificial restrictions.   If you can remember back to the old days of 2016, this was one of the flagship benefits the GOP was saying would come out of their “reforms”. Even when people like Jordan and Paul and I point this out, the GOP simply refuses to even address it.

But of course you don’t remember that. If you know anything of politics it is that the Russians did something, somewhere and that it must have been bad. We don’t know what that is, but it must have been something. That’s about the extent of what the present “politically aware” citizen remembers.

In the last go-round, when Trump was working every day to chisel votes out of the Freedom Caucus to support the plann that is now “mean, mean, mean”, some said their would be a part 2 and 3 of the reforms. The executive branch would just declare more reforms. They didn’t say that open competition would be part of part 2 and 3. So you know as well as I do, it is not going to happen. AGAIN, you are getting it right up the ass while you pose for funny pictures on Snapchat.

Is anyone bothered by the fact that the original flim-flam was kept alive by such illegal activity?!

Tort Reform

Does a single person reading this remember tort reform? Another major plank of the Obamacare repeal was to include tort reform; an end to jackpot justice. That is among the things that make the end-user costs in the real healthcare industry so expensive. Tort reform never survived the Trump’s entry into the race. It was never mentioned after mid-year 2015. Why? BECA– USE IT WASN’T IN THE DONALD’S TWITTER FEED!!!!

 Another Red Herring: Pre-existing Conditions

This line of BS is two-fold. First, we have the people who earn at more than four times the level of poverty (remember: family of four $98,400/yr). That family could have comfortably afforded the pre-Obamacare premiums for health insurance. But many didn’t bother. When such folks suddenly find the mom or dad, or more tragically, one of the kids is seriously ill or injured, they start scrounging around for insurance or demanding “somebody” pay for the coverage. After all, how can they get coverage now? They have a pre-existing condition!

Obamacare validates such irresponsibility. It demands, without any effort on the part of recipients, that every nick, cut, sniffle and cancer by covered by the government. (Let’s not pretend that Aetna covering them is Aetna’s decision. They will cover because they are a corrupt arm of the government now.)

Then there is the same family who had coverage through their employer, also a happenstance of government involvement in health insurance in the 60s and 70’s. Employers were given tax incentives to insure employees with companies chosen as winners by the government. The insurance companies were required to cover more and more minor things. And so the Beast was born.

But now, the head of household loses his job. And he does have a sick spouse or kid. But since he is insured through his job, and the next employer has nothing but disincentive to insure him, there must be a mandate! And the Beast grows.

The ONLY correct fix to our healthcare problem right now it to return the entire system, on a date certain, to the insurance industry. They know how to write real policies based on real risk. The cost of insurance would plummet. People could afford to pay for stitches and common colds and lice, etc. out of pocket. They would pay a reasonable premium to cover catastrophic illness and injury.

The ONLY correct fix deals with the recent expansion of Medicaid separately. But that must be dealt with. If you say that the expansion isn’t rife with corruption and waste, I’ll call you out as a liar.

It would be infinitely cheaper to cover pre-existing and high-risk patients by simple block grants to states or hospitals. The cost involved would be miniscule compared to running the Beast we have now. And it would not require 2700 pages of legislation and 30,000 pages of regulation to oversee. And people making 400% over the poverty line could easily afford REAL insurance.

And there you have it. 1658 words wasted. And that was just this post. Then you have my past posts. There are writers you never heard of saying the same things who also wasted their time. But never mind. You just go back to binge-watching zombie shows on Netflix. Or convince yourself that you can’t do anything to change things because you have to plan for your daughter’s prom or get the kids to little league.

Or you can use the cool, I’m-so-disassociated bullshit lines. You know the ones. “Oh, there all the same.” “Nothing will change.” “You can’t do anything about it.” Dude, you are so deep.

The only reason that is true is because the politicians have no fear of you. They have you so cowed and they are so certain that you won’t stand up; they just give the illusion of working for you. But this Obamacare debacle, along with every other bill passed in the last 30 years, proves that they NEVER work for you. And they know they can get away with it.

You can be dead certain of two things: The Beltway LOVES Trump. Anything they say about him, good or bad is window dressing. He is so easily played and used. And, the only thing the Dems love more than the present Obamacare-lite bill about to be passed is the single payer, government medical care that it will SOON lead to.

And it will happen because you thought electing a semi-articulate, showboat window licker was going to solve all your problems. Ryan was the problem and still is.

Chumps!

The End of the Trump Presidency

As of Thursday, 8 June 2017, the Trump Presidency has reached a point where it has no allies. Well before this, Ryan and McConnell had alternately duped Trump into backing stupid ideas (Ryancare) by stroking his ego, or turned their backs on his agenda (taxes and infrastructure). Now they have the cover they need to simply walk away.  And they will.  These are no men of honor.

They’ll still pay lip service to doing the right thing, but they have no intention, and now no motivation, to actually lift a finger to fix anything. Within weeks, Washington DC will be every man for himself.

This is not a pity party. Much of what we are seeing is Trump’s own doing. Through his open display of ineptitude, undercutting his own people and his mindless tweeting, Trump has made himself easy prey. If he had the least inkling to listen and learn over the last two and a half years, he would not be where he is today.

He won’t be impeached. There is nothing apparent right now which would be impeachable. In fact, he is more useful to his enemies, and those who have abandoned him, in office than he would be if he resigned.

But between James Comey and the news networks’ drama with their dipshit, countdown clocks, there will be almost no place left for the Administration to work its will.

There will be no wall, but we already knew that.

There will be no tax cuts. If there are they will be offset by Ryan’s incredibly stupid import tax.

There will be no real improvements to infrastructure.

There will be little done in the way of improving our position internationally.

Obamacare will remain intact or 80% intact. Again, thank you Speaker Ryan!

The budget will not be cut by one, thin dime.

The deficit and debt will explode as both parties in congress will embark on a vote-buying frenzy the likes of which we have never seen before. Even Obama’s monumental irresponsibility will pale.

History and Context

Source: The Daily Coin, thedailycoin.org. They have an interesting article here. http://thedailycoin.org/2017/05/14/james-comeys-brother-works-law-firm-audited-clinton-foundations-taxes/

Among the most egregious crimes Hillary Clinton committed by keeping her illegal and unsecured server during her time as SecState, was her concealment and destruction of historical records. While not as many people will die from this as those who might due to her sharing of intelligence documents, there are now historical gaps in the record.

She did slick her server, of course. She knew the device was illegal and that she held the information on it illegally. So by trying to cover her misdeeds, she not only made it easier to prosecute her, but when it is important to know what was said when, and by whom, we won’t have the information. And thanks to Comey, the damage will be forever buried.

But these historical documents are as much the concern of the Federal Code and the Federal Records Act as any of the classified documents she stole and destroyed. None of these documents belonged to her. They were entirely the property of the U.S. Government.

There are a few decent, thinking human beings left in this world who understand the importance of keeping a clear history of events for our benefit and the benefit of future generations. Clinton is not in their number. It is by DNA alone that Clinton qualifies as a human being.

Comey seems to have learned a lot from the sham investigation into HRC’s illegal servers. And it has served him well in the estimation of dull-witted people.

For starters, many actions taken by Comey mirror Clinton’s in both intent and motivation. And his explanations even surpass HRC in terms of vanity and self-righteousness. He is nowhere near as slick as Clinton. But he’s trying anyway.

Working backward from this week:

In his congressional testimony, Comey stated affirmatively that he kept memos of his meetings with President Trump because he feared Trump might lie about their conversations. With only one exception, the pleas for loyalty (not a target of these hearings), their stories jive almost perfectly. Not a whole lot of lying going on if you believe either of them.

But beyond that, our previous president had been caught repeatedly throughout his tenure lying outright about all kinds of things. Among the worst could arguably be, “everyone will save $2500 on the health insurance”, “If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor,” and the biggee: denying the administration’s knowledge or involvement in Operation Fast and Furious. (This debacle resulted in the death of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent. It also got a bunch of those little Mexican people killed as well. Offense was compounded by the harassment and denigration of Brian Terry’s family for pursuing the truth about his death.)

And those are just three of the countless whoppers told by BHO and the spineless people who served under him, including James Comey.

But Comey took no notes of his conversations with BHO. He also kept no record of his interrogation of Hillary Clinton for her crimes. She wasn’t even put under oath. And Clinton can’t go from here to there without lying, stealing or extorting. You can call Trump a lot of things. I make a habit of beating him up often. The one reputation he hasn’t earned is that of a liar. That doesn’t mean he is or isn’t a liar. But he hasn’t had the time to establish himself as one, at least not in his capacity as President.

But poor Jim was worried, so he kept notes.

The Self-Appointed AG

Comey’s story about his dealings with Trump, in sworn statements has gone from never having been pressured to stop any investigation in the spring – to – I felt quite sure he was ordering me to stop the investigation as of early summer. When was he lying? Both statements cannot be true.

source: https://www.flickr.com/photos/donkeyhotey/22492551342

So many fascinating things pour off the transcripts here.

First when asked why he didn’t take his impressions and his memos to the DOJ, Comey gave two reasons. First he didn’t want investigators to get the impression the President of the United States wanted the investigation to move in a specific way.

Well! I’d like to thank my personal god that James Comey is the man he is. Imagine the burden he suffered. He was the only FBI guy who could have such knowledge and still remain honest and forthright. Oh heavens! What if all those average, mortal agents heard the president wanted to see Flynn left alone! They don’t possess Comey’s super human fortitude! They would be crippled by the knowledge and would stop investigating.

Oh! Oops! That’s right, they did hear it. Months ago. Comey had already leaked that conversation too. And by some miracle, the investigation continues unabated.

So instead of reporting what he thought was interfering with an investigation, which he saw as his duty (his own words) he decided to keep things to himself. After all, we only had an acting AG at the time. The acting AG was still Comey’s superior and was the correct authority to report to. But Comey appointed himself Deputy Extra Double Secret Attorney General and reported the potential offense to himself and his immediate staff.

So worried was poor Jim about doing the right thing, when he was fired from the FBI he took government documents with him and had a friend leak them to the media.

(Oh yeah, I almost forgot about this self-appointment. Comey appointed himself HMFIC of Ignoring the Federal Records Act. There was a vacancy now that Clinton was gone. He decided the memos he’d written in his capacity as FBI director about official meetings with a sitting president, were his personal property. Those memos were suddenly the equivalent of Comey, sitting in his pajamas, scribbling in his diary about hanging out with his old pal Don at a barbecue. “Dear dairy: spent the day by the pool with Donny. He’s DREAMY! I think he likes me. Tee-hee.”

But in reality he was writing about official business, which, according to Comey, showed possible corruption on the part of the president. In order to use these memos as a weapon of personal vengeance he had to break more rules. So, abracadabra, presto! The memos are now personal notes, his to do with as he wished.)

Continued Below Ad

But Wait! There’s More!

Comey’s testimony was a circus of self-impeachment and mind-blowing hypocrisy.

  1. Comey volunteered that Loretta Lynch requested he lie to the press and to congress, calling the investigation of Clinton’s illegal servers as “a matter” and not “an investigation”. Comey said he was confused and shocked by the order. This is a lie or gives lie to Comey’s “reason” for taking notes about Trump. Because when shocked or confused by a government official, we already know Comey takes note and leaks them. He did neither in the case of the corrupt lackey, Loretta Lynch.

And he was in no way confused by Lynch’s clear abetting in the Clinton cover-up. Unless he forgot all his years as a prosecutor and his years and head of the nation’s premiere investigative service.

     2. “I am not a legal scholar,” says Comey. WTF!?!? A law degree? Years as an attorney? Years as a federal prosecutor? One of the brave legal minds that held the line against making policy decisions behind AG Ashcroft’s back? Years as head of the FBI? And not a legal scholar? The convenient, disingenuous humility is…

…Excuse me. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

  1. “I leaked information [to get a] special prosecutor appointed.” As a statement without context, that could be true, and rather prescient. But in the context of Comey’s fairy tales on Thursday, a reasonable person must stand incredulous.   As we have established here, the memos the committee were fixated on were not the only information Comey leaked. The memos about “loyalty” and discussions about Trump firing him because of the Russian investigation were leaked as reprisal for being fired. That leaves any claims of honorable motivation in doubt.

The ONLY EVIDENCE we have as to his being fired (Trump’s impetuous tweets not withstanding) is Rosenstein’s memo, which speaks simply and legitimately to Comey’s deplorable handling of the Clinton investigation. I will go a step further and call it Comey’s participation in the Clinton cover-up. There too, he appointed himself Attorney General because he knew no matter what he said about his investigation, the utterly corrupt AG was not going to prefer charges. So, he gave himself a field promotion (from Senior Investigator to Extra Double Secret AG) and declared the case was beneath prosecution, nailing his name in the pages of history as the man who saved the unworthy HRC.

This was the clearest demonstration of Comey’s desire to thwart Trump. Save Hillary, he thought, and Trump is done. Being a creature of the Beltway, he was incapable of seeing that the citizens saw HRC as even more nauseating than Trump.

It’s Academic Now

And so, we are seeing the end of the Trump presidency as an effective entity. Not because Comey was right in any of the things he’s done. Since his July 15 press conference he has rarely put a foot right. He has been motivated by two ambitions: The aggrandizement of James Brien Comey, Jr. and the diminishment of Donald J. Trump, Jr.

And the media has only helped Comey. There was no way the MSM was ever going to warm up to Trump. But the “great deal maker” handled them as poorly as he has almost everything else.  Instead of simply touting good press and ignoring, or even spinning negative reports, Trump showed he is probably the worst deal maker ever. He lacked understanding of the press and refused to approach his PR problems as tactical ones.  He treated every negative news story as a personal vendetta against him. As a result, he made enemies, even in camps with conservative editorial lines.

So Is All Lost?

There is a silver lining here. We can anticipate the actions of our bloated, corrupt federal government. We may now, as a people, have the motivation to do something about it. I have talked about this in the past and will do so in my next piece. We’ll see who is paying attention.

Here’s a good primer.

Oh, Susan Rice! What Are We To Do With You?

Susan, Susan, Susan!

Once again, the Obama Administration used Susan Rice and an official arm of the government as a political goon squad. Like the IRS, the Justice Department and the FBI earlier, Barrack Obama turned the NSA loose on the Trump campaign. And once again, as was the case with the myths Obama and Clinton were advancing about Benghazi, Susan Rice was sent out to do the dirty work.

Can you imagine the conversation leading up to that?

Clinton Campaign Goon: We have to make use of whatever we have on these people. If we can’t derail the campaign, we can at least discredit the next administration.

White House Goon: Well, we do have recordings of Flynn sounding mighty cozy with the Russians.

CCG: Great! Let’s get it out there!

WHG: Hmmm. That could be difficult. It’s illegal and dangerous to “out” Americans from an investigation on foreignors.

CCG: What? Are you some kind of pussy?

WHG: No! Not at all. We just have to give POTUS deniability.   I mean he didn’t think twice about turning the IRS and Justice on citizens. He even had a reporter declared a co-conspirator in a crime just to learn what he was doing with a story.   But we need somebody to take the fall if it comes out.

CCG: We need someone stupid, gullible.

WHG: Exactly! Hmmmm…Let me think. [snap!] I know. Let’s get Susan Rice! She’s dumber than a bag of hammers and we’ve gotten her to do stupid things in the past. We’ll tell her to find a way to out Flynn to as many low-level flunkies as possible. One of them is bound to leak it.

CCG: Great idea! No one will ever find out! And even if they do, we smoke up the news coverage and the whole thing will eventually go away!

Presently, we watch the theater with Ryancare being dumped and “investigations” into the Russians doing what all countries do to each other.  We watch the Dems putting up a phony stink about Gorsuch.  In the meantime, the real story of the previous president once again having used his office to spy on American citizens for purely political gain gets a pass almost everywhere.

Which shiny object will you be watching when Obama gets away with it again?

The Four Morons Are Laughing At You!

Who Are The Four Morons?

You would only know the answer to that if you are a regular reader here.  The Four Morons are the house and Senate leadership; Mitch McConnel, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and Paul Ryan.  Donald Trump has lately filled the roll of court jester, keeping the Morons entertained and happy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ryan and his band of cowardly, corrupt Republicans are going for a second bite at the apple to preserve Obamacare.  This time they are offering the Freedom Caucus a “compromise” that amounts to an insult.  Even the MOST basic free market reform, and the most effective in driving down costs, is not included in the present proposal; the sale of insurance policies across state lines.  Instead we have territories carved out by the government.
Why?
Because major insurance companies pay government lackeys to keep competition off the field.  And they pay well.
How do most of you NOT know this!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have said many times, (notably here) that Trump was either completely ignorant of the Constitution, or he was a shill for the Democratic party.  One of those statements is true.  You can decide which.  But you can’t deny the damage he is doing to the Conservative cause and to the country, as he sits in the White House deciding who likes him and who doesn’t.  Nor can you deny his complete lack of intellectual curiosity.  He has no intention of learning his job or following the Constitution.

And the “Experts” Aren’t Helping

Amazingly, if you listen to people who call themselves conservative, both on the idiot box and on social media sites, you’ve heard them saying that Republicans needed to pass Obamacare Lite.  It’s a binary choice they said;  Obamacare or Ryancare.  Or they point out how important it is for the Freedom Caucus to “support the President” by passing legislation they find repugnant.

First off, legislators are not sent to Washington to make sure the President, any president, looks good. Unless they are Democrats.  It is not their job to sell the mistakes of the President and Congressional leadership to us rubes outside the Beltway.  Unless they are Democrats.  Their job, as Ryan has long forgotten, is to represent their constituents based on the principles they ran and succeeded on.  In the case of every single Republican save one, Collins, all ran on conservative, free market principles and a belief in individual liberty.  Even Collins paid a bit of lip service to those principles.

But only a handful stood by these beliefs and they killed the crap designed to replace the extra smelly crap.

And how does the Twitter twat-in-chief react to REAL conservatives voting down trash legislation?  He threatens to fight them and the Democrats as opponents.  This assures us of two things.

First, no matter what, he’ll now not be able to muster a majority to kill Obamacare.  Dems and lame Republicans (who got elected saying they are conservative, but are no such thing) now have Trump’s cover to reject any real free market reforms to medical insurance.

Ryan and his ilk didn’t want to get rid of Obamacare.  They want all the corporate goodies and easy votes from chumps that Obamacare gave the Dems.  So they put up a poorly-funded version of the same dog shit, hoping we’d be stupid enough to let them get away with it.

And don’t kid yourself.  No matter what he said, Chuck Schumer LOVED Obamacare Lite.  The only thing he loves more is the full-flavored Obamacare.

Second, Trump has made the possibility of his re-election much more difficult.  Ann Coulter, FOX News and Brietbart will have to work overtime to pull the wool over your eyes again.

Of course it wasn’t too difficult the first time around.  Trump mangled a couple of Bible verses and that was enough for the “Christian” hucksters to jump aboard and bring almost all of their rubes with them.  He blurted out utterly nonsensical statements on abortion and the Obamacare individual mandate and still his cult, and not just a few “experts”, declared him a conservative!  Amazing!

As Usual, I Hit the Nail on the Head!

So as I predicted, one year ago yesterday, Trump IS overseeing the destruction of free-market conservatism either by design or ignorance.  But he is doing nothing to move this country in the right direction.  And no, executive orders saving 1000 jobs here and 200 jobs there, don’t amount to anything.

To put a finer point on it, watch what happens with “tax reform”.  There will be no reform AT ALL!  There will be a reduction in the amount you pay right now.  But the all mechanisms in place to raise them again, when the country sickens of Ryan and Trump, will remain in place.  That’s not reform.  That’s cotton candy, sweet and fluffy but without real substance.

And that is the nature of the Trump presidency so far.

If Trump ends this calendar year without striking all of Obamacare from the books and allowing competent professionals to produce free-market medical insurance, he will be a one-term President and a failure.

Obamacare: Repeal The Phony Healthcare System

While you’re here, grab my RSS—>

See part one here.

Why Not Go All The Way?

In 2009, while medical costs were up and a recession was getting underway, the government saw another opportunity to do something they’d been dying to do since Truman; a complete takeover of the medical insurance industry.

Here’s how the plan came together.

First, they never refer to the insurance takeover as a takeover or insurance. Call the takeover scheme “health care reform”.

Next, design a system that will fail rather quickly.

Wildly exaggerate results.

  • For example, we are repeatedly being told that there are now 20 million people who didn’t have insurance before that are now “insured.”  That’s not even a half truth.  First of all, millions lost jobs.  In doing so they lost their insurance.  thousands of companies either cut back hours, reducing workers to part-time because they could no longer offer insurance to employees, while other simply abandoned plans to expand for the same reason.
  • Tens of millions of working age people gave up and left he workforce.  Many of them now qualify for Medicaid.  And that is where they and many others already below a certain level ended up.  So many millions of the so-called insured are actually just Medicaid recipients.  That IS NOT a net plus by any measure.
  • So, truth be told,  far less than 20 million are on any kind of new insurance, and most who are, are heavily subsidized by others.  The others are the people who must not only buy insurance at wildly inflated rates for themselves, based on their own risk viability, they must also pay considerably more to take care of the so called 20 million  “newly insured,”
    • Update/NOTE:  As it turns out, my numbers are rather charitable and based on TV propaganda. As of 7 Jan 17, there are actually 11 million people (about .3% of the population) signed up for one of the “exchanges” under healthcare.gov.  So, if there are 20 million people now covered under Obamacare, and I doubt there are, that means about 9 million were added to the Medicaid roles.  That, my friends is a portrait of a miserably failed system.  Source: Washington Post, quoting HHS figures.  You have to love WAPO.  The article starts out saying how wonderful Obamacare is.  They throw percentages around in a way that would impress the credulous.  All that is to cushion the upcoming truth.  Or they are hoping you’ll quit reading before you get to the bad stuff.  But their own numbers reveal very few people are actually buying into the system. If there were no underlying fear of reprisal, fewer still would be buying.

Continuing With the Obamacare Plan

Uh…oops!

When the whole “market exchange” idea fails, and it will, the left can say, “Look at all the good things we’ve done. But all the greedy hospitals and insurance executives and doctors still ruined it! We need universal government ‘health care’!”

That is precisely what was perpetrated under Obamacare.  Single payer government health care was the outcome intended by the designers of Obamacare.

One of the crises the Obamacare is now touting as a reason to rush ahead with the insurance scam is the 2009 recession. People were loosing their health insurance because they were losing their jobs. (An excellent reason to have never linked the two.) Ironically (?) the very same recession has been needlessly dragged out to the present day by things like Obamacare.

But, oh dear, what to do?

And now the Republicans are talking of “replacing” Obamacare with something they say will work better. They say their program will be better and will still include mandatory insurance for pre-existing conditions. But that too must fail. Or at least fail to stop the insane upward cost spiral we see today caused by Obamacare.

If you enact laws that says this is how you will insure people, you are already screwing the pooch. Insurance people, who are taking all the risk, know how to do that better than ANY government social engineer. And when you introduce your clever new insurance laws and don’t separate out pre-existing conditions and 26 year-olds on their parents plans (WTF?), you are simply creating Obamacare-lite. In other words, you haven’t fixed the problem. You’ve only delayed the collapse for a bit.

Here is the alternative that will work. You:

  • Set a timetable for ending all the government mandates on medical insurance for all those above the poverty line and not on Medicare or insurance through the military.
  • Repeal laws that prevent competition in the industry.
  • End all subsidies and tax breaks for employment-related medical insurance. That’s just an extra impediment to the efficient bet between the customer and the insurance company. The money the employer saves in medical set-asides and compliance can be put into the employee’s paycheck. With that kind of money, an individual can create a serious health savings account.
  • End all subsidies for wellness programs. They have been proven not to work. They are used as sops for doctors and others to suck up extra insurance money.
  • Thwart jackpot justice in the form of egregious damage awards. The U.S. courts were not set up to ruin doctors.
  • Along that same line, move first to eliminate those mandates that encourage doctors to practice defensive medicine.  Then eliminate all mandates.  It is not up tot he government to decide how much you pay, and for what coverage.  It is up to yo and the insurance company.
  • Encourage people to seek minor, non-emergency treatment (no longer covered under our adult approach) from facilities that post their rates. Educate them to shop their medical dollar. You’ll be AMAZED at how inexpensive routine treatment will become.

This list is not exhaustive by any means. But by doing these things we take the billions of dollars sloshing around a bloated and mismanaged system and let it move much more effectively between patient, insurer and doctor. By extracting the government money from the system, the incentive to bilk the system as government systems always are bilked, is eliminated.

Don’t dicker.  REPEAL!

In short, the plan should not be repeal and replace.  It should be repeal.  Give the industry a year or two to put real insurance offerings together and on a predetermined date, phase people off the government dole and into private policies designed to take care of CATASTROPHIC medial needs.

Once you’ve done all these things, if you want to still take care of those who are uninsured for reasons other than personal irresponsibility, you can do so at far less cost than under the Obamacare circus tent.  You provide them vouchers for care.

The one role the government has to play in this whole picture is punishing fraud. That is a legitimate role for any government. Fraud by insurers and doctors and fraud by people trying to get on a government program who don’t belong there. And punishments should be brutal. We can be confident that insurance companies in the United States can come up with selections of coverage and prices that work better than anything the federal government and the existing monstrosity, with its 2700 page law and 30,000 pages of regulation, have.

And the costs to the consumer would be dramatically reduced!  They will be lower than they were before Obamacare was ever conceived.

Pansy Rants vs Real Violence

Are These Pansy Rants Supposed To Be Helpful?

I have a thousand chores to complete here. I have two posts I promised my friend, Kathleen. I am almost ready to launch my membership writers’ program. And the furniture business is not going to stand itself up. BUT…I saw this post on Facebook the other day and I just cannot let it go by without comment. It is too mindless and too indicative of what we have descended to in the course of four weeks – not that we were in such a great place to begin with.

First, let me say that I have no skin in who won the election. I voted for Cruz in the primary and Darrell Castle in the general.

But to listen to the Donald Trump cult, you’d think we just solved all the countries problems with one election. The fact is there is STILL no indication we’ve solved anything. Trump is the same Twitter Twat I said he was a year and a half ago. His idea of free trade is protectionism (for the truly slow, that’s not free trade and is counterproductive).

Also, for Trump to look at an issue and take the opposite view of Obama, simply because it is the opposite of Obama, is not a demonstration of clear thinking. But that is how I would characterize his stands on issues like Russia and Israel. There are very good reasons to disagree with BHO on these issues. I disagree with him. But Trump announces his disagreement without a reasoned argument. That is left to his apologists after he tweets out the cards he’s holding.

And yet…

That said, all the hysterical fear about Trump has, so far, been farcical. There is a reason why you don’t hear about all the incidents of Trump supporters running wild and beating up gays, and minorities and shooting illegal aliens. The reason is that it is not happening. And it won’t happen. At least it won’t if the members of the opposing cult would kindly calm the fuck down!

Look at the meme above. It is the most egregious pile of self-righteous shit I’ve seen in a long time. And that comes after an election year loaded with self-righteous shit. The drama queens who think like this are the main problem we face right now.

Here’s just a short list of why going back to November.

And the problem isn’t going away.  This is what we were treated to this week

Who, I ask you, contributes, at least rhetorically, to the actions of these subhuman, unworthy pieces of crap? And who, among those who would look at the meme above and shed a tear, has come out and condemned the skanks who did it? So far, I haven’t seen the Hollywood pansies who cried all over the airwaves about Trump for the last two months say anything. Your silence is your acquiescence.   For you, it’s kinda okay. I mean the abusers  did hate Trump and all, so there’s that anyway.

The fact is the supposedly “peace-loving, kind-hearted, socially evolved, open-minded” persons who say they hate all the exaggerated characterizations of Trump are the people who will likely be the greatest impediment to our society doing what is has done since 1791. That is to accept the political realities of an election and engage as supporters of the present powers or stand as the loyal opposition.

Instead we get this.

Intellectual Dishonesty

“I am not mad at you that Hillary Clinton lost…,” the post reads. Liar! The author of this thing is the equal opposite of the Trump cult followers. Their cult lost. They are furious!

Here’s how the election shakes out. About 30-35% of the country, very early on, dove in for Trump or Clinton. There was nothing anyone could say to sway them. ANY disagreement toward either was called “hate”. The media fanned these flames every day from June of ’15 until November of ’16.

The remaining 65-70% of the country paid little attention to it all. But, as a result of their obtuseness and apathy, in the end, they were left with a choice between the two worst candidates ever fielded for the Oval Office. As it turned out, just enough people in just enough states decided that Trump was the less disgusting person. They held their noses and voted for him.

The Trump cult crowed and the Clinton cult cried. Trust me when I tell you that the rest of us, no matter who we voted for, just shook our heads and marveled at the display.

It isn’t unusual to see some crowing and crying in the day or two after an election. But this year there is a conscious effort to draw a big fat line between voters who didn’t want a felon in the White House and those who pretended she wasn’t a felon. The flames of resentment are still being fanned two months after the polls closed.

And the rhetoric, like that displayed above has gone completely over the top. “I don’t think less of you because you vote one way and I vote another…” Liar! The very hallmark of the modern, American left (and a quality the Trump cult fails to see in themselves and their candidate) is the fact that if you disagree with me, you are a bad person. You are a hater. Anything that is not of our thinking is to be insulted. The people who disagree are to be hounded. If we’re lucky, we can even ruin their ability to make a living. That is what the far left (and the Trump cult) calls victory.[1.The Trump cult is hailing Megyn Kelly’s exit from FOX as a victory. They think they got her fired. Morons. If they had been paying attention, she’s been fielding offers for a very long time. She’ll leave for an easier time slot, more money and more editorial input.]

One Can Only Shrug and Laugh

As I write this, I am amazed Scientology hasn’t had more success in this country. There are so many credulous idiots, right and left, just waiting to be taken in by feel-good bullshit.

The FB post is actually laughable in it’s portrayal of self as tolerant – “I don’t hate you because…”or “I don’t think less of you because…” It then goes on to accuse anyone who voted for Trump of being the worst form of person conceivable in this country.

So here’s the divide being created by such drivel. On one side your have those who are clearly declaring that they are incapable of moving on – “you and I won’t be ‘coming together’ to move forward or whatever” – because I am a damaged snowflake, unable to climb down from my high unicorn and confront reality like an adult.

On the other side you have the Billy Bobs who think Trump critics are such because they “hate” Trump. These guys, in their ignorance of economics, think Trump will make America great again by taxing companies into doing what he wants and risking trade wars. They think the Donald is conservative. They think tweeting what you think on every issue is a good idea. They also think his tweets make sense. Now, that’s actually funny.

Fortunately, as I said previously, a good 70% of the people, likely more, are not participating in the post election idiocy.  You might not know it looking at social media.  That’s only because the 30% are more vocal and strident on their complaints and criticisms.

But if I ever had to choose between the two camps, I’ll stand with Billy Bob. He may be dumber than a bag of hammers, but at least he’s trying.

Dumping Obamacare: This is not Rocket Science!

While you’re here, grab my RSS—>

It’s Also Not Multiple Choice!

There is one and only one condition under which the Republicans can save the medical insurance industry and protect citizens from Obamacare. It is the only way to create an economy of scale that will permit the average American citizen to afford coverage that ONLY A GOOD insurance policy can provide.

The U. S. Government needs to get THE HELL out of the insurance business. Once it has done so, there are as many methods to creating and securing good medical coverage as there are imaginative providers.

We have at least two generations that have grown up dealing with an insurance industry that had been used as a piñata, stuffed with pounds of goodies, created by the nanny state, for the groping, supposedly helpless citizens to gather up. Anyone under the age of 45 has never lived in a country where their healthcare wasn’t a byzantine monstrosity.

To explain my position, a bit of history and definition of terms might be in order.

First, what is health INSURANCE? If you look at the definition Wikipedia suggests, we are told that in the United States, health insurance is any program that helps pay for medical expenses, whether through privately purchased insurance, social insurance or a social welfare program funded by the government. The article goes on to be wrong about in every other conclusion it draws as well.

And therein lies the very crux of the problem we face with Obamacare and it’s repeal. The only thing that falls under the definition of health insurance, in the context of this discussion, is a fiduciary relationship between an individual and a private insurance provider which, based on the premiums charged, provides an agreed set of benefits to the individual. Anything else, Medicare, Medicaid, welfare, is not insurance. Those are wealth transfer schemes. Whether you think they are important or not, doesn’t change what they are.

Why? I’m glad you asked.

As I said in Street Politics (On Amazon Kindle) insurance is a bet. Insurance companies, now dependent on the government for their survival, and self-appointed social engineers working for the government, chafe at hearing insurance is a bet. It threatens their ego to think they are bookies in a gambling scheme. And in this case, they are low-life bookies who have been gaming the system since the 60’s.

But the fact remains insurance is absolutely a bet.

You (or your employer – the second problem we’ll address) put your money down every month betting that you are going to be sick or injured. Based on actuarial tables, the insurance company bets you will stay healthy. If you get sick, you win the bet. The insurance pays the doctor, the hospital, or in some cases you, the winnings. The cost of your ante (monthly premium) is based on what the actuarial tables say is the insurance company’s risk vis a vis your age and overall health.

No matter what anyone tells you, true insurance only works, and medical care only remains affordable, when it is a clean, two-party bet and the payoff only applies to a catastrophic situation.

Before WWII health insurance was a means for individuals to hedge against serious illness or injury. But over time, and in narrow-minded reaction to economic pressures, the government perverted the idea. First, with taxes rising during the war and post-war, executives were paying shameful percentages of their income to the government. Smart, high-wage employees started to ask for compensation other than money. Along with snappy benefits like company cars and paid vacations came employee-provided health care.

Well, when the unions got wind of that, driven as they are by class envy, they decided that health insurance should be a part of every workers pay package. Well…, it complicates things, and the risk becomes a bit fuzzy, but okay. Employers rolled with that. But as post-war fears of inflation took hold, the government beat the bushes looking for ways to thwart it. One of the ideas was to set price and coverage controls in health insurance. They also codified tax breaks for people carrying such insurance. And that would be the camel’s nose under the tent.

What’s That Goddamn Camel Doing In Here?!

Fast forward about a decade and a half. With its early interference in the health insurance industry as precedent, the government was primed to interfere more. And the American people gave them the excuse(s).

Anecdote: Poor Mrs. Jones. Her son got a nosebleed on Thursday and it wouldn’t clot. She had to go the emergency room and have it cauterized. It cost $X to have it done. She isn’t rich. She shouldn’t be penalized just because her son got a nosebleed. There oughtta be a law!

Anecdote: Poor Mr. Smith. All his kids caught really bad colds at the same time this year. One had a fever so high Mr. Smith had to call the doctor. He was charged for a house call and medicine. He has health insurance. Why can’t the bad, rich insurance company help him with that?

With one non-catastrophic malady after another, voters began to hound their legislators about how their medical insurance didn’t cover nose bleeds, minor stiches, colds, birth control and on and on. With each complaint, politicians found fertile ground on which to plant their incumbency desires. Why dip into your savings to pay for one of the things responsible people save money for? Can’t Mommy Government wipe your noses for you?

“Oh, hell. That was the easy part. I just told them if you like you doctor you can keep your doctor. And they believed it.”

Sadly, not considering the consequences of their actions, the people loved the Mommy State making the big, bad, rich insurance companies pay for every conceivable thing they might suffer. By the 80’s, the mountain of mandates placed on insurance companies had reduced their profits to near zero. Government, by that time already in bed with the big companies, was interfering with interstate trade and telling companies what states they could and could not operate in. This went along with reams and reams of needless compliance.

The insurance companies, under no obligation to commit suicide, passed the costs the government had placed on them along to the customer. Insurance was getting very expensive. With each turn of the government screw, hospitals were seeing more and more guaranteed revenue streams. They had no reason to compete with each other for nosebleeds and coughs. They ran their charges right up to what the law allows, whether they needed to or not.
