Mask Hysteria: Moving the Goal Posts

It would be swell if the politicians would stop moving the goal posts.  But they can’t.  They haven’t gotten Trump out of office yet.  And Congress keeps announcing more and more money is to be doled out.  So, too bad for you.  We need to keep everything screwed up at least through November.

Part 7

Well, we were first told that we just needed a few weeks of downtime to “flatten the curve” on COVID then we could open back up. A hospital ship was dispatched to New York and emergency hospitals facilities were set up in strategic areas to help hospitals with the overflow.

We quickly flattened the curve. But then we were told we can’t take our foot off the accelerator now. We need to stay shut down. We flattened the curve some more. The hospital ship left New York. This is around the time politicians realized they had the money and political thing going for them.

After months of this utter nonsense we started to talk about reopening. The damage done to the economy by this time was immense. But it seemed even the politicians were getting it. They warned that when we opened back up, there would be surges in positives reported. The availability of testing was also unmasking more cases as well. Only the wimpiest of political hacks were talking of shutting back down again.

So across the country small businesses started ordering supplies, this included small restaurants (they don’t get a do over). We opened up and…OH MY GOD! THE NUMBERS ARE GOING UP!

Across the country restaurants that had barely held on through the pretend quarantine, now with refrigerators full of perishables they put precious money into, would only to see them spoil again. Half the country went back to cowering under the bed.

Supply chains across the country were once again disrupted. 39% of businesses closed by the virus now report they will never open again.

This has been our precursor to steal us against the next flu season. I can’t wait to see how much weaker and more stupid we become as a nation when the flu and COVID are floating around.

Here’s the good news.

I never come with just the problem. I bring solutions as well. Not that they will be implemented. Politicians are too selfish and amoral to do what is actually right. Just look at the wealth wasted on ideas that did nothing for anyone for more than a week at a time. And they want to do more of the same. The GOP wants to print money and the Dems want to fund pet social projects. None of it will save a single life from COVID. Not one.

But here’s the correct course of action: Send the hospital ship back to New York. Send one to LA. Open field hospitals and emergency treatment centers, strategically, all over the country. In the meantime, open everything.  EVERYTHING.

Next we’ll discuss whether civil disobedience may be in order here.

Mask Hysteria: Fun for Germaphobes

In a few, short months we have become a nation of germaphobes.  We were discussing going to Walmart and not being able to visit a medical specialist.  It gives me a headache just writing that last sentence.

Part 2

And what of the “science” employed by those big box stores? Most have two large access points. Some have three. Federal, state and sometimes local authorities required these stores to take steps to keep their customers “safe” from the ChiComm plague. And how did they do that? By and large they decided to close all but on set of doors, funneling access and egress through one set of doors. What mental midget came up with this plan? Why not one in and one out, thinning the exposure between transients? That would be a bit more scientific anyway.

Also, through the magic of SWAG (Super Wild Ass Guessing) governments arrived at
magic numbers for these big stores that dictated how many people could be in the
stores at any given time. So you see one unfortunate employee with a number
clicker in hand counting the numbers going in and out. SOOOOOO scientific.

This is also a lot like how they reached the 6-foot magic distance of disease control…

“Expert” 1: I don’t know, George. We have to give them something.

“Expert” 2: Tell them to stay far apart in public. Make them feel like they are doing something.

“Expert” 1: Right. How about 3 feet?

“Expert” 2: Hmmmm. No. That just doesn’t feel like a big enough number.

“Expert” 1: How about 10 feet? There’s no way you can breath on someone from 10 feet.

“Expert” 2: Are you crazy? Walmart would never go for that.

“Expert” 1: Okay, 6 feet. That’s got to fly.

“Expert” 2: Yeah. It sounds significant and if public places can’t maintain that they can just shut down. Yeah. Perfect.

These are just silly examples of how we are “containing” the virus. But I said at the beginning everything we are being told is invalid. So far we have just discussed the results. These are all based on what we are told is the underlying “science” from the real “experts”.  And that is what has been invalid almost from the beginning.

Find out why.

Mask Hysteria: Everything You’ve Been Told Is Invalid! (In many parts)

Part 1

Whenever someone questions the infallible wisdom of masks and shutdowns the speaker is inevitably accused of not following the science or being (get this) selfish. Here’s the painful truth: Since Trump first spoke of containment (and Pelosi was still telling everyone to party in Chinatown and De Blasio was still telling everyone to board the commuter trains and come downtown) there has been a painful dearth of science in any government policy announced. In fact, with every passing week, the “science” we’ve been told to accept has simply gotten worse.

Let’s start with the “science” behind the stay-at-home policies. They can’t REALLY call these policies quarantines. Quarantine is an extreme measure, 100% isolation, and is scientifically proven to forestall the spread of infections. The stay-at-home, shelter in place, or whatever you call what we did for more that 3 months, was anything but scientific and was only marginal in it’s efficacy.

Here’s why. Many homes throughout the country, and almost all homes of government employees, had family members who worked every day outside the house. Every single time that member left the home and returned, speaking SCIENTIFICALLY, the isolation calendar reset to zero. There was no isolation. The same goes for trips to Walmat, the as station, whatever.

So nothing SCIENTIFICALLY significant was accomplished. That’s why in New York, for example, at the very height of our non-scientific isolation efforts, 66% of COVID patients reported that they were staying home and practicing social distancing.

And the blind stupidity of the shutdown by no means ends there. “Science” as we know it today says a trip to Walmart is okay, but a trip to your doctor’s office, peopled by a profession that has been dealing with infection control since the laying on of leaches, is OUT OF THE QUESTION. Walmart is an essential (politically sacred) function. Your proctologist is not.

Yes, there is something to be said for the economic value of Walmart. We’ll get to that.
