Ryan’s Hedge; Obama’s Deal

My book, Kindle Version, STREET POLITICS: It Ain’t Your Daddy’s GOP Anymore! 50% of all author proceeds go to fighting Multiple Sclerosis!! ONLY $4.99

Ryan First

Paul Ryan’s speech today was encouraging and may be helpful. But there was a line in there I had to think about.  He said Trump was the only one to hear the voices and that is what made him successful.  This just isn’t the truth.  Since 2010, Ryan and the rest of the GOP leadership has heard the voices, saw what the people, especially what their constituencies wanted, then cynically pretended to respond, only to ignore the voices after the last three elections.

When he ascended to the Speaker’s chair, the people were clearly looking for someone to send a complete healthcare bill to the White House (let him, the president, try to make an argument against it) and cut and balance the budget NOW.  What does he do a full year and a half before an election?  He takes the seat and then says we better wait a year or two to fight those battles.  And THAT COWARDICE is what made Trump successful. Conservatives felt they had no one left to turn to.

If Ryan does what he said he’d do in the near future, Trump may have some success as a president.  But if Ryan reverts to form; he will stymie the White House and may cause a real rift in the party, not a primary “rift”.

Barack Obama’s Pickle

When the president-elect meets the president on Thursday, you can be sure one distasteful item on the agenda will be Let’s Make a Deal. It wouldn’t surprise me to hear BHO had already sent out some surrogates to do a little bootlicking in advance.

Here’s why.  Obama can’t pardon Hillary.  There are still people screaming for more oversight and a special prosecutor.  But as Obama is fully aware, you can’t let a Clinton skate on corruption or malfeasance unless you have your own get-out-of-jail-free card.  Don’t believe me? Google Jim Guy Tucker, Google McDougal (Hah-hah.  That’s funny because it rhymes.)  They ran interference to take the heat off the Clintons.  So did a lot of people who ended up unemployed pariah over the years. And Barry O is up to his eyeballs in his communications with Clinton’s illegal server.  So, he will be offering to support Trump on XYZ if Trump gives assurances that BHO is not to be pursued for using the server and lying about it.  He will also want to pardon Clinton with no interference form the new administration. Obama will not allow himself to be the last man standing.  Smart.

If Trump refuses, Hillary’s legal problems have only just gotten started.

That’s a Wrap

It’s been a long three weeks and a very long 24 hours.  My brain is fried.  One more post tomorrow, then I will likely take a day or two off from the political jazz.  When I return, it may be on the subjects of travel or gardening.   Who knows?

Good night, all.  And remember, for two hundred and forty years, this country has successfully turned over governments every four to eight years without violence.  No other country in history can say that.  So while parties and players may win or loose, every time we do this, the country wins.

I am proud of every single person who voted last night.

What Do I Know, Anyway? Experts! [bemused]

Once again, months after reality was established here, the “experts” are finally catching up. A recent example is when Charles Krauthammer said he was finally getting the Trump effect. People had tired of the same old formulaic, often weak-kneed Republicans and wanted something new. They found Trump’s brash delivery irresistible. That was on FOX Special Report about a month ago.

Streetpolitics.us had already established that before there was a Trump running for office. It’s a source of frustration that this site hasn’t hit its stride yet, despite being ahead of everyone on most things and having a solid grasp of today’s political climate. It has led, and will continue to lead to a string of I-told-you-so posts. That is not for the pleasure of just saying it, although it can occasionally be fun.   The intention is to point to lessons learned in the hopes we don’t have to learn them again. Sadly, until Street Politics gains a real niche, I told you so will be a frequent message.

Gee, thanks, Judge!

The latest unwitting convert to clear thinking is Andrew “Judge” Napolitano, a popular commentator on FOX and FOX Business. He was commenting on a story about the FBI’s unethical whitewash of Clinton’s illegal server. It seems the agent who ran the investigation has resigned from the FBI in protest. He said the investigation went “sideways”. In other words, there was a lot of activity, lots of interviews, lots of immunities granted without requiring testimony. But there was never any real progress. Progress was never intended. The last straw was that no grand jury was seated to hear the mountain of evidence showing Hillary Clinton heading up at least one, likely two criminal enterprises.

So Much for “Experts”…

Napolitano was so smug. “This investigation was never going to go anywhere,” he opined after the fact. It was as if he knew it all along. This would be the same Andrew Napolitano who said for months that since the FBI was running and investigation, Clinton was in REAL trouble! That James Comey is a REAL professional. He wasn’t going to get caught up on all that DC corruption.

Well, readers at this site knew months before everybody (with the possible exception of Judicial Watch) that the FBI was slow-walking the investigation with the intention of running out the clock. The idea was to get as close to the nomination as possible. The Clinton team, including James Comey, wanted to make Clinton’s candidacy a fate accompli. I suspect it early on and called it before Comey disgraced himself and whored away his career in front of congress.

Call this braggadocio, if you wish. My point is to establish the value of this site and encourage you to filter what you see and hear through streetpolitics.us. It isn’t necessary for you to agree with my conclusions. But you can be sure that you are getting informed input. I am clearly in no one’s pocket, as no one pays me but me.

Making the Old New Again

Another bit of breaking news in the last couple of days: Obama sent official documents to Hillary on her unsecured, illegal server. My God! That means he lied to us – TWICE – in one-on-one interviews. Barry O says he first learned about the illegal server by watching the news.

Call me crazy, but didn’t we learn he had a pseudonym for use in communication with the illegal server about 5 months ago? Didn’t we establish the lies to credulous “journalists” on video then? Why is this breaking news? And why didn’t the investigation include Barry’s release of classified documents onto the interwebs in concert with BJ Bill’s wife?

We’ll likely never know the answers to these questions. Congress is too weak and inept to do their job and the press is too interested in elevating the worst president in history to the level of Washington and Reagan.

The Ever Present Media Flim Flam!

The Latest Media Flim Flam

It is now accepted by many that the news industry exists, not to inform, but to advance a political agenda. There are few people, including those who work the con, who don’t accept blatantly slanted news as axiomatic to modern life. It isn’t new, but they’ve gotten so good at it and they’ve been so successful at creating an utterly apathetic citizenry, that the media now find themselves in a position to crate an entire presidential campaign out of whole cloth.

Gone are the days where reporters, especially television personalities had to be nuanced in how they spun a story. Now, without the slightest blush of embarrassment, Wolf Blitzer can weave a tale in which a felon can be president while carrying her Republican counterpart from announcement to nomination to defeat in the general election even as the viewer knows it is happening. And the public laps it up, pretending to believe what they are told. Those who don’t have retreated to their respective social network echo chambers, where they harmlessly tell each other how everyone (that would be the rest of the universe not a part of their conversation) is stupid.

They have the basic conclusion right anyway. We are gullible enough as a nation to be called “stupid”. No one on either side has made the slightest demand that their candidate measure up to the least standard. They didn’t think to. The candidates were brought to us 24/7 by the propaganda machine.

How to Make an Idiot Look Good

While Trump faced seventeen opponents, you’d never know there were more than three in the race at any one time. The news outlets would split screen an empty podium for an hour before a Trump event almost every day. He would blather about what is bad, how great his poll numbers are, what a rich guy he was, and it would be carried almost with out comment. Sometimes a talking head would make a remark about Trump’s lack of seriousness or intellectual laziness. But that was pretty much the show. Later in the day they’d carry an obligatory sound bite from whomever Trump was attacking, and that would be the extent of the Republican primary coverage.

How to Make a Felon Look Acceptable

On the Dem side, there stands the most corrupt candidate ever fielded by a major party. The press pounded away at how no one wanted her opponent to be nominated because he is a socialist. Meanwhile, that opponent drove his campaign to one success after another. Had the devotion to the felon been a bit weaker, had the coverage of Sanders been any less condescending, he might have won. But alas, the corruption of the press and the “super delegates” was too great. The media got their girl nominated just under the California wire.

There exists enough material for the media to have gone after her on her slush fund, Benghazi and her illegal server and hounded her out of the race in a week, as they would have done to ANY serious-minded candidate. Her silly double speak answers to the lame questions that were asked are so easily picked apart that not having done so leaves the media nakedly in the bag as her pet. And yet, most people still speak of this election, AND OUR MEDIA, as if it all actually means something.

The race we have today is the exact race the elites inside the beltway, and those that feed off the scraps of the powerful, wanted us to have. The felon queen continues to give her elementary school speeches and the media slowly turns up the heat on the Donald. Now when he says something stupid they report he said something stupid. When he says things that make sense, they belittle or ignore the statements.

As Street Politics Predicted…

And it’s only just begun. As I have said since this time last year, by the time Trump is declared the official nominee, the media will be in a full feeding frenzy. By late July, you will be hearing about Trump’s mob ties. Reporters will be pounding away relentlessly at him. Banner headlines will record his demise. And BJ Bill’s wife will be left unmolested. No one will ask why a criminal continues to run for president. What happened to Comey and the FBI? Why did he chose to be such a tool?

The media also pretends this is a two-person race. Their justification for ignoring a successful, two-term governor on the ballot in all fifty states is that he is not polling well. Of course, a thinking voter would know Gary Johnson isn’t polling because the press is pretending he doesn’t exist. I have seen him interviewed twice in the last four months on FOX and once on CNN. (See, now they can say, “What slanted coverage? We interviewed Johnson!”) Only one of those appearances was prime time.

I admit I am pissing up a rope here. You’ll read this, know it’s true and maybe sigh at the ugliness. So what. You won’t do anything about it. I could tell you how to get Johnson into the debates (in fact, I will in a later post), but experience says you won’t lift a finger to do so.

An ugly reality awaits you in November. It scares some of you. It disgusts most of you. But you are going to stand there and let it happen to you. I listen to all the loud, strong conservatives out their talking a big game. You talk about maintaining your right to assembly and free association, the right to carry a firearm and to say what is on your mind. But when they come for you, or your weapons, you’ll roll over and take it, meekly.

That will be your testament to the success of this monstrous infection we have permitted to fester in our midst.
