The End of the Trump Presidency

As of Thursday, 8 June 2017, the Trump Presidency has reached a point where it has no allies. Well before this, Ryan and McConnell had alternately duped Trump into backing stupid ideas (Ryancare) by stroking his ego, or turned their backs on his agenda (taxes and infrastructure). Now they have the cover they need to simply walk away.  And they will.  These are no men of honor.

They’ll still pay lip service to doing the right thing, but they have no intention, and now no motivation, to actually lift a finger to fix anything. Within weeks, Washington DC will be every man for himself.

This is not a pity party. Much of what we are seeing is Trump’s own doing. Through his open display of ineptitude, undercutting his own people and his mindless tweeting, Trump has made himself easy prey. If he had the least inkling to listen and learn over the last two and a half years, he would not be where he is today.

He won’t be impeached. There is nothing apparent right now which would be impeachable. In fact, he is more useful to his enemies, and those who have abandoned him, in office than he would be if he resigned.

But between James Comey and the news networks’ drama with their dipshit, countdown clocks, there will be almost no place left for the Administration to work its will.

There will be no wall, but we already knew that.

There will be no tax cuts. If there are they will be offset by Ryan’s incredibly stupid import tax.

There will be no real improvements to infrastructure.

There will be little done in the way of improving our position internationally.

Obamacare will remain intact or 80% intact. Again, thank you Speaker Ryan!

The budget will not be cut by one, thin dime.

The deficit and debt will explode as both parties in congress will embark on a vote-buying frenzy the likes of which we have never seen before. Even Obama’s monumental irresponsibility will pale.

History and Context

Among the most egregious crimes Hillary Clinton committed by keeping her illegal and unsecured server during her time as SecState, was her concealment and destruction of historical records. While not as many people will die from this as those who might due to her sharing of intelligence documents, there are now historical gaps in the record.

She did slick her server, of course. She knew the device was illegal and that she held the information on it illegally. So by trying to cover her misdeeds, she not only made it easier to prosecute her, but when it is important to know what was said when, and by whom, we won’t have the information. And thanks to Comey, the damage will be forever buried.

But these historical documents are as much the concern of the Federal Code and the Federal Records Act as any of the classified documents she stole and destroyed. None of these documents belonged to her. They were entirely the property of the U.S. Government.

There are a few decent, thinking human beings left in this world who understand the importance of keeping a clear history of events for our benefit and the benefit of future generations. Clinton is not in their number. It is by DNA alone that Clinton qualifies as a human being.

Comey seems to have learned a lot from the sham investigation into HRC’s illegal servers. And it has served him well in the estimation of dull-witted people.

For starters, many actions taken by Comey mirror Clinton’s in both intent and motivation. And his explanations even surpass HRC in terms of vanity and self-righteousness. He is nowhere near as slick as Clinton. But he’s trying anyway.

Working backward from this week:

In his congressional testimony, Comey stated affirmatively that he kept memos of his meetings with President Trump because he feared Trump might lie about their conversations. With only one exception, the pleas for loyalty (not a target of these hearings), their stories jive almost perfectly. Not a whole lot of lying going on if you believe either of them.

But beyond that, our previous president had been caught repeatedly throughout his tenure lying outright about all kinds of things. Among the worst could arguably be, “everyone will save $2500 on the health insurance”, “If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor,” and the biggee: denying the administration’s knowledge or involvement in Operation Fast and Furious. (This debacle resulted in the death of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent. It also got a bunch of those little Mexican people killed as well. Offense was compounded by the harassment and denigration of Brian Terry’s family for pursuing the truth about his death.)

And those are just three of the countless whoppers told by BHO and the spineless people who served under him, including James Comey.

But Comey took no notes of his conversations with BHO. He also kept no record of his interrogation of Hillary Clinton for her crimes. She wasn’t even put under oath. And Clinton can’t go from here to there without lying, stealing or extorting. You can call Trump a lot of things. I make a habit of beating him up often. The one reputation he hasn’t earned is that of a liar. That doesn’t mean he is or isn’t a liar. But he hasn’t had the time to establish himself as one, at least not in his capacity as President.

But poor Jim was worried, so he kept notes.

The Self-Appointed AG

Comey’s story about his dealings with Trump, in sworn statements has gone from never having been pressured to stop any investigation in the spring – to – I felt quite sure he was ordering me to stop the investigation as of early summer. When was he lying? Both statements cannot be true.

source: https://www.flickr.com/photos/donkeyhotey/22492551342

So many fascinating things pour off the transcripts here.

First when asked why he didn’t take his impressions and his memos to the DOJ, Comey gave two reasons. First he didn’t want investigators to get the impression the President of the United States wanted the investigation to move in a specific way.

Well! I’d like to thank my personal god that James Comey is the man he is. Imagine the burden he suffered. He was the only FBI guy who could have such knowledge and still remain honest and forthright. Oh heavens! What if all those average, mortal agents heard the president wanted to see Flynn left alone! They don’t possess Comey’s super human fortitude! They would be crippled by the knowledge and would stop investigating.

Oh! Oops! That’s right, they did hear it. Months ago. Comey had already leaked that conversation too. And by some miracle, the investigation continues unabated.

So instead of reporting what he thought was interfering with an investigation, which he saw as his duty (his own words) he decided to keep things to himself. After all, we only had an acting AG at the time. The acting AG was still Comey’s superior and was the correct authority to report to. But Comey appointed himself Deputy Extra Double Secret Attorney General and reported the potential offense to himself and his immediate staff.

So worried was poor Jim about doing the right thing, when he was fired from the FBI he took government documents with him and had a friend leak them to the media.

(Oh yeah, I almost forgot about this self-appointment. Comey appointed himself HMFIC of Ignoring the Federal Records Act. There was a vacancy now that Clinton was gone. He decided the memos he’d written in his capacity as FBI director about official meetings with a sitting president, were his personal property. Those memos were suddenly the equivalent of Comey, sitting in his pajamas, scribbling in his diary about hanging out with his old pal Don at a barbecue. “Dear dairy: spent the day by the pool with Donny. He’s DREAMY! I think he likes me. Tee-hee.”

But in reality he was writing about official business, which, according to Comey, showed possible corruption on the part of the president. In order to use these memos as a weapon of personal vengeance he had to break more rules. So, abracadabra, presto! The memos are now personal notes, his to do with as he wished.)

Continued Below Ad

But Wait! There’s More!

Comey’s testimony was a circus of self-impeachment and mind-blowing hypocrisy.

  1. Comey volunteered that Loretta Lynch requested he lie to the press and to congress, calling the investigation of Clinton’s illegal servers as “a matter” and not “an investigation”. Comey said he was confused and shocked by the order. This is a lie or gives lie to Comey’s “reason” for taking notes about Trump. Because when shocked or confused by a government official, we already know Comey takes note and leaks them. He did neither in the case of the corrupt lackey, Loretta Lynch.

And he was in no way confused by Lynch’s clear abetting in the Clinton cover-up. Unless he forgot all his years as a prosecutor and his years and head of the nation’s premiere investigative service.

     2. “I am not a legal scholar,” says Comey. WTF!?!? A law degree? Years as an attorney? Years as a federal prosecutor? One of the brave legal minds that held the line against making policy decisions behind AG Ashcroft’s back? Years as head of the FBI? And not a legal scholar? The convenient, disingenuous humility is…

…Excuse me. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

  1. “I leaked information [to get a] special prosecutor appointed.” As a statement without context, that could be true, and rather prescient. But in the context of Comey’s fairy tales on Thursday, a reasonable person must stand incredulous.   As we have established here, the memos the committee were fixated on were not the only information Comey leaked. The memos about “loyalty” and discussions about Trump firing him because of the Russian investigation were leaked as reprisal for being fired. That leaves any claims of honorable motivation in doubt.

The ONLY EVIDENCE we have as to his being fired (Trump’s impetuous tweets not withstanding) is Rosenstein’s memo, which speaks simply and legitimately to Comey’s deplorable handling of the Clinton investigation. I will go a step further and call it Comey’s participation in the Clinton cover-up. There too, he appointed himself Attorney General because he knew no matter what he said about his investigation, the utterly corrupt AG was not going to prefer charges. So, he gave himself a field promotion (from Senior Investigator to Extra Double Secret AG) and declared the case was beneath prosecution, nailing his name in the pages of history as the man who saved the unworthy HRC.

This was the clearest demonstration of Comey’s desire to thwart Trump. Save Hillary, he thought, and Trump is done. Being a creature of the Beltway, he was incapable of seeing that the citizens saw HRC as even more nauseating than Trump.

It’s Academic Now

And so, we are seeing the end of the Trump presidency as an effective entity. Not because Comey was right in any of the things he’s done. Since his July 15 press conference he has rarely put a foot right. He has been motivated by two ambitions: The aggrandizement of James Brien Comey, Jr. and the diminishment of Donald J. Trump, Jr.

And the media has only helped Comey. There was no way the MSM was ever going to warm up to Trump. But the “great deal maker” handled them as poorly as he has almost everything else.  Instead of simply touting good press and ignoring, or even spinning negative reports, Trump showed he is probably the worst deal maker ever. He lacked understanding of the press and refused to approach his PR problems as tactical ones.  He treated every negative news story as a personal vendetta against him. As a result, he made enemies, even in camps with conservative editorial lines.

So Is All Lost?

There is a silver lining here. We can anticipate the actions of our bloated, corrupt federal government. We may now, as a people, have the motivation to do something about it. I have talked about this in the past and will do so in my next piece. We’ll see who is paying attention.

Here’s a good primer.

This Is What Being Chumps Feels Like (Apathy 2)

We are all being played for chumps.   Let me rephrase that.  Most of you are being played for chumps.

Now, point at yourself and say, “Who, me?”

Yes, you.  There is better than a 66% chance I am addressing a chump right now.  And you’re a chump because you suffer from the apathy I spoke of last week.  I exclude myself because I, and a few of my fellow citizens, actually are paying attention and refuse to be played.  If that makes me an elitist in your eyes, so be it.  It’s hardly true, but I couldn’t possibly care less.  If you are one of the few who see what is happening or if you are the type of person who gets involved and writes their representatives, you are on my side of the equation, even if you disagree with this post.

We just ended the most ridiculous week in politics since the passage of Obamacare.  Yes, even more embarrassing for the country than the last election.

The Republican led legislature (happily) failed to get the Obamacare “Repeal and Replace” bill to a vote in the House.  But they tried their best, most knowing there would be no consequence to them either way – because you’re a chump.  They know you believe the myth that you have the good Reps and Senators. My Senator said so himself.  It’s all those other Congressmen that are ass hats, right?

So you can just go about your business.  Nothing to see here.  Don’t check on what these phony “liberals” and “conservatives” are doing inside the Beltway.  You just keep your brackets straight and make sure you catch the next zombie show on TV.

Let me break all that down for you.

Flimflam #1

Labeling.  What was before the House this week was not a “repeal” of anything.  This was a classic example of how government programs, no matter how temporary or worthless, tend to gain immortality.

The Republicans created a bill that kept the class envy, bureaucracy, income redistribution, corruption and almost all the financial burden on the Makers intact.  The plan was to hype how they would dicker around the edges of the worst law in American history and claim to have “replaced” it with a wonderful new law.

Of course, their proposal did no such thing.   They left all the backbone in place for the system to be completely restored by the first change in government.

Why?  Because they want the same thing the Dems got from the bill when it passed to begin with.  With the cash subsidies, Republican can throttle it either way, giving the Takers more or less depending on what they needed in the way of votes.  “Look at what I’ve ‘given’ you,” they’ll exclaim next election.  “I increased your money from the government by XX%!  Am I not a generous, moderate Republican?”  OR  “Look at the money (2 or 3% of growth) I cut from that terrible subsidy! Am I not a great conservative?”

The ACA and the AHCA give both Dems and the GOP several avenues through which to scam money from companies, and votes from the chumps.

Flimflam #2

Phony Strength.  Once again, for the fourth time since 2010, when Republicans claiming the mantle of “conservatism” were elected to office, they opened their argument with a 75%+ give away to the opposition.

In the case of some (Trump is at the top of the list) this is just a display of their complete ignorance of how the free market works and what conservatives truly believe at their core.  For others it demonstrates clearly that those in control of the GOP in Congress are NOT conservative.  They are opportunists, as devoid of principles or interest in what is good for the country and the economy as Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelosi.

These people don’t want affordable health insurance.  They don’t care about that.  They want control, pure and simple. By keeping things like the tax on “Cadillac plans”, the Republicans are fighting the Democrats by BEING Democrats. Idiotic!

(The term “Cadillac Plan” is a Democrat canard for insurance plans that successful people are willing to pay for, putting more money into the overall insurance pool.  Keeping the tax in place plays on class envy and discourages participation in the plan.  This shrinks the amount of money in the associated insurance pool.  Way to go, geniuses!)

I’ll do just one more example, but I can go on for hours.  You can even see other parts of a valid argument on the subject here.

Flimflam #3

Binary Choice:  This is the third time in the last 12 months we’ve seen this term thrown around.  The first was when the media hyped Trump and Clinton for a year, instructing you (the chumps) that you only had two choices.  Being drones of whatever the TV tells you, you believed that out of the original 21 candidates running for president, you could only choose from two, no matter what.  To make an intellectual decision on your own would spell the end of civilization as we know it.

And you bought it!

Then near the end of the general election, when both leading candidates had demonstrated how lacking they were in either scruples or basic intelligence, you were once again schooled by the talking heads that you only had two choices to pick from. Never mind the other candidates.  We, the media, are not covering them.  Therefore you have no choice but to listen to us.  And don’t you dare research these candidates on your own.  A vote for X will cause unworthy candidates Y or Z to lose and you don’t want that, do you?

And you bought it again!  You ACTUALLY bought it again!

I’ve made this point before and it is proven here in stark numbers.

There is an old adage I picked up during my Navy days.  “Once learnt, twice burnt. Three times, a sucker.”  And this week was your third time.  “There is only a binary choice,”  they keep telling you.  There are no other choices out there.  Congress must vote to keep Obamacare or vote for keeping 75% of Obamacare plus the expense of rewriting and enforcing the new regulations.

But the only reason there was only such a choice was because that is how the “leadership” arranged it and how the media sold it for them.  They could have actually created a real plan, starting from pure free-market principles and allowed real debate and amendments to occur before trying to cram the bill down everyone’s throat as Obamacare did.

They could have explored the infinite number of choices which debate would have provided.

They could have started from a position of strength instead of starting from a 75% Democrat position.  They would have had the GOP in both houses locked down in favor of the bill.  Then the destruction of our economy, if it occurred, would have been on the heads of Democrats.  They get that.  They’re dishonest, not stupid.

They could have forced the Democrats to try and defend Obamacare in the face of outrageously high costs to the Makers in our society.  And the Dems would have lost that argument.

Trump would have gone along with this.  He wouldn’t have known good from bad anyway.  He’d have supported that looked like a campaign promise being kept without argument.

But NO!  Only what Paul Ryan and a few other skeezy politicians say are the choices – are the choices. “It’s a binary choice”.

And from all appearances, it would appear you are going to happily eat this shit sandwich again!

Here’s the Chumpiest Part

And they continue to get away with this because they are 100% certain that you are either ignorant of the way they are supposed to do their jobs, or you are totally disengaged and won’t even notice them scamming you yet again! Or both!

Hell, one of the biggest complaints the GOP had about Obamacare was the centralization of power it created and the heavy hand of regulation over legislation involved (2700 pages of law and almost 30,000 pages of regulation by the executive branch).

And what does Ryancare do?  It leaves two thirds of the law untouched, passing responsibility for making new healthcare “regulation” (read changing the law) to the dictates of the Executive Branch and HHS.

A few moments of critical thought will destroy even the arguments Ryan makes about it on his own web page.

For the truly slow, HHS would have written those regulations in such a way as to protect their share of power.  Bureaucracies are inherently bound to protect themselves, not work for a greater good.  You would have seen a whole new, big-government side of Tom Price, I can assure you.

So, would someone explain to me again why we elected Ryan speaker and how Trump is a conservative?  From where I am sitting, both notions are preposterous.

Thankfully, we now have a clean slate from which to start and we can still purge the government from the health insurance business.  If we can succeed in doing that, we will see premiums drop into the basement.  Half the people who were moved onto Medicaid by Obamacare won’t need it.  In fact they’ll prefer a market driven policy to the garbage the federal government doles out.

But that will only happen if you join me in calling on your reps to introduce new legislation.  The final lie is that this was our only chance.  What horseshit!  They can deal with Obamacare any time they wish to and as many times as it takes.

C’mon!  Talk to your reps! A phone call.  An email.  You can do it.  Get back in the game!

Hillary Milhous Nixon or Richard Rodham Clinton?

A Simpler, Happier Time

In the course of investigating a burglary of the Democratic headquarters in Washington, DC, Congress discovered that Richard Nixon had a surreptitious system recording all White House conversations. This was not new. FDR and Ike had such systems, as did Johnson and Kennedy. I have no doubt that every president since has had one. I’ll allow for a smart president who may not have wanted one for fear of taping himself saying something embarrassing.

But in those days it was considered bad form for gentlemen to collect information on others in this fashion. (Yes, there was a time when such things actually meant something.) So it was incumbent upon congress to feign shock and appear to do something. Most historians of the era correctly conclude it was the discovery of the covert tapes that caused momentum to shift against Nixon in front of Sam Irvin’s Watergate committee. A subpoena was issued for the White House audiotapes. The purpose was to see what could be gleaned about the Watergate cover up operation.

To that point, investigators only had hard evidence of a break-in – no one was disputing it at this point – and rumors that Nixon found out about the break-in and tried to cover it up. BUT… the ace kicker that sent the White House into a death spiral was an 18-minute gap in the taped evidence.

To this day, it is not known what was in the missing 18 minutes. It could have been something about the cover up. It could have been something unrelated which was so sensitive that someone decided better to dump it and risk further legal damage than to risk it being played in open committee. Maybe it was something really juicy about Nixon or someone on the White House staff. No one knows. But it could also be that the person transcribing the tapes actually did hit the wrong button, letting the system run before discovering the error, thus taping over conversation. That was the official line at the time.

The general consensus was Nixon tampered with evidence. Few people could be convinced otherwise. At that point Nixon’s impeachment and ultimate conviction in the well of the Senate was considered inevitable. That’s because as corrupt and divided as we saw our government at the time, there was still at least some sense of duty among statesmen. A huge number of politicians in both parties decided to do the right thing. No one circled the wagons and redefined the English language to create a 100% false narrative to protect a party or an individual; not even the President of the United States!

Nixon X 30,000 Documents = Clinton

Flash forward to two years ago. We discovered we had a Secretary of State who was actually the tip of the spear in a criminal conspiracy to breach national security, break several federal records laws and break several sensitive information laws. A short history can be found here.

Later we found out she destroyed federal documents by the thousands. (This could have been avoided if the FBI hadn’t been reduced to a pack of political goons and had followed protocol upon discovering the existence of an illegal server being used to transmit official State communications.) Any single one of these acts was far more insidious than anything Nixon ever dreamed of doing. None of them were a prideful or misguided act to protect underlings. All were cynical, illegal acts performed by the principal suspect to protect herself from mandatory oversight and hide shady, pay-for-play scams with cronies and foreign governments.

And at no point did anyone actually do anything effective to thwart or punish the crimes. Oh sure, Jason Chaffetz and Trey Gowdey have made just enough hay to keep their names in the news, but even they have dragged their feet. The entire Democratic Party apparatus inside the beltway has chosen to embrace seedy corruption over honorable service to their country in allowing Hillary Clinton to walk in the face of SO MANY blatant crimes. The Department of Justice and the IRS have been reduced to thugs covering up the crimes of their betters rather than serving the country.

And this week we hear not only did Clinton destroy documentary evidence, she commissioned a civilian company – which was not cleared to hold the documents to begin with – to destroy their backups almost a full month AFTER subpoenas had been served and preservation orders had been issued for that very evidence.

We’re Not Just Mucking About Here!

The complaints listed here against Hillary Clinton are not vague law school theory. Crimes, serious crime, have been committed. The chief perpetrator is running for president, unmolested. Her co-conspirators still work for her and work for her slush fund. If you were suspected of the same crimes, you’d be jailed without bond pending trial. If you were a similar risk to national security and had the Clintons’ track record for corruption, no judge would let you walk the street after arraignment. Your house would have been torn apart within hours of the server being discovered. You would not have had the months Clinton had to purchase software designed to cover up crime and carefully use it to permanently erase evidence.

This is handcuffs and prison shit, folks. Every day Clinton walks free and is not tossed in the back of a police car is another victory for the political criminals who are wrecking this republic.

How did we ever end up here? At what point did the Democratic Party completely sellout to slime? The Clintons are like the Peanuts character, Pigpen. Everywhere they have gone, for the last 35 years, they have moved in a cloud of blatant corruption. There has always been a stench about them. And yet there is no shortage of people willing to debase themselves by following in their fetid wake.

There is no legitimate media in this country anymore. It is one thing to have an editorial line and spin commentary in favor of one candidate of another. It is something else entirely to ignore rampant crime and corruption and willfully further lies and obfuscation in order to see a candidate win office.

Serious Americans Need To Read This!

Are you one of the 60% who disapprove of the two “major” candidates?  Would you like to take control back from the ruling class.  Are you a Democrat sickened by the prospect of voting for Hillary?  Are you a Republican who realizes “the Donald” is a clown and a fraud?  Would you like to do something about it? Let’s see some guts!

What Will It Take?

Trump once said that if he stood on 5th avenue and shot someone, he wouldn’t loose his following. Does anyone remember the reaction the left had to that remark? So what would it take for them to pull the plug on Hillary and go with Biden or Kaine? Clearly, harming our military and our security doesn’t count for anything.

One needn’t be a naïve boy scout to be disgusted with it all. It isn’t puritanical to be sickened by the prospect of this nation being represented by an arrogant, self-serving felon. You don’t have to be a fanatical patriot to understand the disdain the military holds at the very idea of serving under such a person. Here, I am not speaking of the post-Vietnam “yes” men who populate the high offices of the Pentagon. I am talking about the professional soldiers in the field, officers and enlisted, who still have a sense of honor about them.

It appears doubtful that a very large number of voters share this sense of honor and dignity. If polls are accurate, about 45% of the people still think Hillary Clinton deserves their vote. Is it ignorance of the facts or a lack of fortitude?

The Ever Present Media Flim Flam!

The Latest Media Flim Flam

It is now accepted by many that the news industry exists, not to inform, but to advance a political agenda. There are few people, including those who work the con, who don’t accept blatantly slanted news as axiomatic to modern life. It isn’t new, but they’ve gotten so good at it and they’ve been so successful at creating an utterly apathetic citizenry, that the media now find themselves in a position to crate an entire presidential campaign out of whole cloth.

Gone are the days where reporters, especially television personalities had to be nuanced in how they spun a story. Now, without the slightest blush of embarrassment, Wolf Blitzer can weave a tale in which a felon can be president while carrying her Republican counterpart from announcement to nomination to defeat in the general election even as the viewer knows it is happening. And the public laps it up, pretending to believe what they are told. Those who don’t have retreated to their respective social network echo chambers, where they harmlessly tell each other how everyone (that would be the rest of the universe not a part of their conversation) is stupid.

They have the basic conclusion right anyway. We are gullible enough as a nation to be called “stupid”. No one on either side has made the slightest demand that their candidate measure up to the least standard. They didn’t think to. The candidates were brought to us 24/7 by the propaganda machine.

How to Make an Idiot Look Good

While Trump faced seventeen opponents, you’d never know there were more than three in the race at any one time. The news outlets would split screen an empty podium for an hour before a Trump event almost every day. He would blather about what is bad, how great his poll numbers are, what a rich guy he was, and it would be carried almost with out comment. Sometimes a talking head would make a remark about Trump’s lack of seriousness or intellectual laziness. But that was pretty much the show. Later in the day they’d carry an obligatory sound bite from whomever Trump was attacking, and that would be the extent of the Republican primary coverage.

How to Make a Felon Look Acceptable

On the Dem side, there stands the most corrupt candidate ever fielded by a major party. The press pounded away at how no one wanted her opponent to be nominated because he is a socialist. Meanwhile, that opponent drove his campaign to one success after another. Had the devotion to the felon been a bit weaker, had the coverage of Sanders been any less condescending, he might have won. But alas, the corruption of the press and the “super delegates” was too great. The media got their girl nominated just under the California wire.

There exists enough material for the media to have gone after her on her slush fund, Benghazi and her illegal server and hounded her out of the race in a week, as they would have done to ANY serious-minded candidate. Her silly double speak answers to the lame questions that were asked are so easily picked apart that not having done so leaves the media nakedly in the bag as her pet. And yet, most people still speak of this election, AND OUR MEDIA, as if it all actually means something.

The race we have today is the exact race the elites inside the beltway, and those that feed off the scraps of the powerful, wanted us to have. The felon queen continues to give her elementary school speeches and the media slowly turns up the heat on the Donald. Now when he says something stupid they report he said something stupid. When he says things that make sense, they belittle or ignore the statements.

As Street Politics Predicted…

And it’s only just begun. As I have said since this time last year, by the time Trump is declared the official nominee, the media will be in a full feeding frenzy. By late July, you will be hearing about Trump’s mob ties. Reporters will be pounding away relentlessly at him. Banner headlines will record his demise. And BJ Bill’s wife will be left unmolested. No one will ask why a criminal continues to run for president. What happened to Comey and the FBI? Why did he chose to be such a tool?

The media also pretends this is a two-person race. Their justification for ignoring a successful, two-term governor on the ballot in all fifty states is that he is not polling well. Of course, a thinking voter would know Gary Johnson isn’t polling because the press is pretending he doesn’t exist. I have seen him interviewed twice in the last four months on FOX and once on CNN. (See, now they can say, “What slanted coverage? We interviewed Johnson!”) Only one of those appearances was prime time.

I admit I am pissing up a rope here. You’ll read this, know it’s true and maybe sigh at the ugliness. So what. You won’t do anything about it. I could tell you how to get Johnson into the debates (in fact, I will in a later post), but experience says you won’t lift a finger to do so.

An ugly reality awaits you in November. It scares some of you. It disgusts most of you. But you are going to stand there and let it happen to you. I listen to all the loud, strong conservatives out their talking a big game. You talk about maintaining your right to assembly and free association, the right to carry a firearm and to say what is on your mind. But when they come for you, or your weapons, you’ll roll over and take it, meekly.

That will be your testament to the success of this monstrous infection we have permitted to fester in our midst.

Canard of the Week: Free trade Agreements

The government is notorious for creating terms that are utterly devoid of truth.  Affordable Care Act leaps to mind.  So I will occasionally dedicate space to the vetting of a fun canard.

This week, free trade agreements.

Does anyone know who Fred Hochberg is?  I didn’t until today.  He is the present head of the Import-Export “Bank” of the United States.  This is a government monster created by, get this, executive order in the 1930s to finance trade to other countries; trade so risky and/or worthless, that no bank would bother to get involved.  It has since grown into a cabinet level function of the government.  Have you ever heard of this creature?  No? Well, too bad, because keeping this obvious moral hazard alive is the price we are paying for an example of this week’s canard.

The Transpacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), some people calling it the Asian free trade agreement, is by itself a red herring.  It is touted by supporters as a bill designed to help American goods get to market.

Problem:  There is nothing FREE about it.  This (and What is called “Fast Track) is an example of Congress once again handing its power to the executive branch ostensibly to foster faster trade deals with foreign countries and “help the American worker”.  (I am blowing raspberries.)  How could anything negotiated by a few heads of state, always done in the interest of selected corporate “winners” and handed to our Legislative branch for an up-or-down vote without amendment be called free?  Further, in this case, the power is being handed to the man who set back-to-back billion dollar records for selling influence to major corporations.  A man with only two desires applicable; the acquisition of personal power (he only has two years left and is in dire need of a success) and selling the aforementioned influence.   This will set him up for his multimillion dollar paydays after he leaves office.  Even if we had a 100% pure and honest broker in the oval office, there would be nothing free about this or any other trade deal that would be made by anyone other than the parties buying and selling their goods.

In order to get enough liberals to vote for this free trade myth, McConnell – who appears to be missing a jaw bone as well as a spine – agreed to make the survival of the Import-Export “Bank” part of the bill.  Of this move, Mitch said that although he doesn’t support the phony bank, those that do support it are entitled to a vote.  Aww, too bad his predecessor didn’t feel that way when Obamacare was rammed through without real debate or substantial amendment and one-sixth of our economy was being hijacked.  At the time, McConnell was on all fours, pants around his ankles saying, “Do me again, Harry!”

Anywho, according to AP’s Myway.com, this all came with the “usual presidential phone calls, closed-door Capitol meetings and urgent, private pleadings. [Emphasis mine]

A cute side note:  The president stayed up late into the night making phone calls to keep this bill alive.  Hmmmm… Well where the hell was he on 9/11/12?  NOWI want more personal power so I’ll stay up all night in order to get it.  THEN: Someone is attacking my ambassador in Libya? Oh well, do what you can.  I have a fund-raiser tomorrow.  I have to go night-night.
